Re: Doom of the Savage Kings
Great adventure. I would have just liked a short entry on the "after adventure" wrap-up. The Jarl & villagers, etc, etc. Immediately aware when the Hound has been finally destroyed, Sylle Ru realizes that the PC's have ruined his chance to complete his ritual at the Standing Stones. In ...

The Old World
Using DCC for the Warhammer Old World - great idea or terrible idea? I've been considering setting my game in the Border Princes, probably starting with Doom. DCC seems to have all the grit and gore, and the Warhammer world is also loaded with dangerous magic and uncaring deities. The character funn...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
The unusual dice are hard to come by (here in Toronto, at least), and I want to make sure that interested parties can roll the bones in some way, shape, or form when I'm running the game. I think the owner of Sci-Fi world has a distributor, but you'd have to make a special request for odd dice. I a...

Re: Ability Checks vs Ability "TESTS"
Ok this thread has confused me a bit. Just to clarify, the Rules As Written for attempting anything in DCC (that has a chance of failure) is: Roll 1d20 (or 1d10 if not supported by profession), add relevant ability modifier, beat DC to succeed. If relevant ability score is equal or greater than DC, ...

Re: Question about "Withdrawl," page 95
Well, "withdrawing," by definition, means to retreat backwards from something, not approach it, so I think we're safe in saying that charging into melee is NOT punished with a free attack! I would also say that melee begins when two parties have the intentions and ability to strike each ot...

Re: Initiative
Is anyone considering a player-facing DC system? I.E. players declare their actions and judge declares monster actions. If any monster action conflicts with a player action, the player must roll initiative vs. (10 + Init. Modifier) DC in order to get his action off first. So if the second level warr...

I don't remember seeing it in the rule book, but is initiative dynamic or static? Do the players roll every new round or just at the beginning?

Re: The Next Point of Business
My priorities would be (in order of reasonable production time): I. Nice artsy character sheets II. DCC dice sets (one with just Zocchi dice, one with everything) III. DCC Merch (DCC Metal cover for t-shirts and sturdy tote bags) IV. Judge's Screen V. Gazetteer of the Known World (easily digestible ...

If you have a mythic underworld with your campaign, every single thing written down there should only be decipherable with this spell.

It would be neat to have custom fumble and crit charts for these. Maybe missile weapons in general should have their own crit charts?

Not only is the book gorgeous, it's also well written and imaginative. I've already found myself nodding and smiling as I read. This is good stuff.

Re: Sword Magic Table results
Those are, in order, the first random swords I rolled up. Each one is cool, which bodes well for the system. But to be honest, I see this all as being mostly inspiration. There are no rules for magic armour or other types of magic weapons in the book, but you should be inspired to design your own af...

Re: HackMaster
I was a huge fan of HackMaster 4th Edition, and even found HackMaster Basic to be a lot of fun. I have the 5th Edition PHB, but it seems to me that the game has gotten a little too dry and complicated for me. It was the great attitude and flavor that drew me to the original HackMaster, and unfortuna...

I thought the book Conan always fought with an iron vest (something which was very different than movie Conan). Which Appendix N personalities fought without armour? I suppose you could make a case for the Grey Mouser, but he was hardly a warrior anyway.

Re: Classic Modules
So how does level drain work in the new rules? Do you still lose experience points? Is there advice for giving XP for things other than monster-wraslin'? Is there a way to do individual XP rewards from combat (so you gain XP according to how many enemies you personally defeated)? The Castle Zagyg su...

Re: Classic Modules
I like this change. No need to have similar XP charts as classic D&D if you don't get XP from treasure. This is very true. Also, we should remember that the differences in class level charts was always rather academic. The difference between classes would only determine who levelled first, and ...
