Re: Mixed Party Alignment
Besides, I'd rule that healing someone of opposed alignment would be just fine as long as the healing promotes the deity's cause. If my cleric fools a Lawful character into helping my Chaotic deity's plans, I doubt my deity would have a problem with it. This is pretty much what I was thinking, and ...

Re: House Rules We Love
The jump from level 0 to level 1 jars me (at least the fiction behind it - wizards suddenly learn 4 spells - what?), so I was going to test out these rules: At 0 Level, characters choose their future class. This represents apprenticeship or training they’ve received to-date. Each class gets addition...

Re: DCC RPG Alternate Cover #2
I'm not usually a limited edition kinda guy, but I just preordered this (and I have the first ed) simply because that cover is freakin' awesome. Just awesome.

Re: Streamlined adventurer spending
I ran one campaign where each new session began with the characters totally broke. Reminded me a lot of the situations you see in Conan and Fafhrd/Mouser type stories, where somehow the heroes have spent all of the loot from the previous adventure. Of course, at the end of each gaming session the p...

Re: Skill checks involving multiple characters
I like the idea of increasing the die step if results are additive - so busting open a door, lifting a portcullis, etc, each additional character would be useful. I'd also include the appropriate ability modifiers as bonuses, if applicable (and almost always Strength in these cases) for each PC acti...

Re: So who here uses mini's in their DCC game?
I haven't (yet), but plan to, with 2D and 3D terrain. I wasn't planning on introducing any new rules, though - just to use them for clarity and atmosphere. I wouldn't want DCC to turn into a minis game. Also, in general I prefer to use minis for set pieces, not use them for every corridor explored. ...

Re: Help With Adventure Idea
To steal from Harry Potter, which stole from other sources, consider staircases that shift where they lead, and pictures that change or watch you as you move around. Also: Greenhouse with hordes of man eating plants Observatory with portals to other worlds The Stables ... and what _are_ those stains...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
I wanted everyone to know that there will be an Open Playtest of the TA/TG 0-Level adventure at Dragon's Lair here in Austin, TX on September 16th from 3pm to 7pm. It was surprisingly difficult to book a table. The staff was super-helpful and all. But there weren't any spots available. All booked u...

Re: New DCC RPG Kickstarter - Craft of Corpse Born
I agree with bholmes. I keep looking at this KS campaign, but I don't really know of the company or anyone involved, and haven't seen much if any of the content. So it could be brilliant ... or awful.

Re: Anybody daring to swear he doesn't roll concealed? ;)
I roll most rolls out in the open. I do roll some behind the screen, mostly things that should be hidden. I tried the roll-in-the-open-but-hidden-behind-other dice, but that didn't work for me. I kept forgetting which the real die was. And there isn't much practical difference between that method an...

Oh well. There goes my hope that GG would be the light in the dark and continuing with 3.5 products. My wallet will be happy though. Please don't take that as a dig at GG or anything, but there are those of us who don't and won't want to convert to 4E. Heck, I haven't played 3x in years, and don't ...

One other observation - rules lawyers are fine, as are solid and experienced players...but what really livens up a group are stupid/silly players. It may sound counterproductive, but it's really not. Stupid players are more liable to fall into traps, get themselves (and the group) into trouble, and...
