Re: Transylvanian Adventures and Void Hunters Adventure
Obviously, we are going to want adventures for TA and VH. The question is, what will the procedures be for publishing such adventures? Will there be a second license/approval process? Or will there be a free usage license ala Labyrinth Lord (for example) that requires Goodman Games approval? Enquir...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
Finished reading the entire adventure. I like it. I want to run it on Wednesday night. This group hasn't played DCC yet. I do have a couple questions. 1: What time period is it? I see black powder, so anywhere up through the 1850's. Transylvania is a bit of a backwater in the genre. Many people sti...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
So far, and I've only read through the Mistress Spider, I like what I read. Good humor. Well written. Although I do have 1 question. Early on you have a sidebar that discusses self-inflicted wounds and you say to roll 2d20. Does that mean 2-40 for 1 result or 1d20 twice; yielding 2 results? Thanks....

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
Just downloaded it. 1st glance, it looks clean. 60 pages, about 40 of adventure, rest are characters and the 1 map. Kudos on the map being so clean. [as opposed to the other DCC maps that have art among the map.Starless Sea has top down and side mixed together.] More than I expected for $4. Thanks....

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
I have, and had over 100 of RPG's of the past 30+ years. All I've played or at least read through, at least once. Having others interested was/is the hard part. Some had great concepts but crappy rules. [Living Steel, sci-fi.] Other had just too many rules. [Traveller]. Some were too nichey. [Behin...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
Fantasy might have been a poor choice of words, but... it's not modern horror, not super heroes/villians, not war or weird war, not steampunk, not sci-fi, not post holocaust. Dresden Files is modern fantasy. Supernatural & Grimm [both tv shows] are modern horror/fantasy. I played the Elric game...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
As an addenda, TATG is not a fantasy game. It's Gothic ...uh... Adventure Horror. I say something else in the book. But it's best summed up by that moment in the Call of Cthulhu game where the party sacks up and grabs some shotguns. TATG dispenses with the formalities. The players work on a mystery,...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
Everythign sounds interesting. My only problem is when I say fantasy game, players from both of my groups think Tolkein. Those that have played some form of RPG; especially D&D think Ravenloft when you mention vampires. I'll keep my eye on this thread to see how it progresses. Maybe I can convi...

It's a pretty extensive thread, so forgive me if this question has already been asked, but how are you handling the printing? Are you going POD or do you have a publisher? The book will be available via PDF download at RPGNow/DriveThruRPG. It will be available print-on-demand through Lulu and RPGNo...

Well, that was exciting... You should be hearing from me more frequently now. RSI willing, I will try to put up another blogpost soon. Transylvanian Adventures has been submitted to Joseph for approval. It weighs in just south of 300 pages. I should also be able to put up some details about a Hallow...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
Hey just curious how this is coming along? I can't wait to run a short episodic break from my main DCC game using it. And then convince everyone to use it for my next game, some sort of mix up between Castlvania, Nightmare Creatures, and Silent hill. We can see a small sliver of sunlight emerging o...

Re: Cleric-less Parties: How to keep them alive?
Transylvanian Adventures supports play without Clerics, even NPC Clerics. In essence, it allows play in worlds where there is no magical healing. The changes in TATG that allow for this would be easily portable to DCC classes. Or the TATG classes could be used in a fantasy setting to allow for Swor...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
This has been an exhausting month. I've put in 70-80 hours a week at my day job and tried eeking out as much of TATG as I could in my spare time with the clock seriously winding down. I'm a little loopy. Tonight I've finished the index. Yes, there's an index. Not going to pretend it's a good one but...

Re: multiple characters combineing for a skill check?
Here's my rule of thumb. Have one PC designated as the primary. He rolls normally. All other PCs roll the same check. With a 1, they take a -2 off the primary's roll. With 2-5, they take -1. With 6-9, no effect. With 10-14, they add +1. With 15-19, +2. 20-24: +3. And so forth. A natural 20 adds a +5...

Re: Firearms
So, Johann, we agree it's imperfect. Cool. I suppose modeling firearms is about what you want to reflect with them. Swordplay in D&D-esque RPGs is usually more whittling away at your foe, like something from a swashbuckling movie. In reality, both swords and guns can kill you with one blow. So,...

Re: Firearms
There are rules for firearms in Transylvanian Adventures. Not machine-guns, cannons, or explosives though. Those will have to wait until a following book. The rules playtested well. Firearms are pretty cool. But don't dominate. There's no armor in Transylvanian Adventures either. And the rules for s...

I know you're probably very busy trying to make the answer "yes," smathis, but is Halloween still looking good for Book 1? Deadstop I think there's a possibility that the POD book might fall into November. But I would be shocked and very disappointed if the PDF wasn't available by the end...

Re: 77.5 Tower Out of Time
I honestly do not see any close similarity between the two, although it has been a while since I read Stargazer. I mean, they both have a tower, and they both make use of astrolonomy (the fantastical science of astrological astronomy), but otherwise, I would say that they are very, very different a...

I've been busy on the blog. Which should tell you one thing... We're getting closer. I've got two more chapters to proofread. Finished two of them after I got back from GenCon. Hoping to finish these last two this week. As for the blog, we've got Terrifying Tales of GenCon 2013, Part 1 ...and the fi...
