Re: Doom of Savage Kings in 15 minutes **** Spoilers****
Well,I would say house ruling a limit to it would cut down on all the sudden dramatic spell results but...it does come at cost as it is and at least to my thinking, makes magic truly a fearful force.

Re: Dave Arneson's Blackmoor Core Campaign Book
I find that the 3.5 or 4E versions of Blackmoor are better for running a game in. After all you are mostly wanting to lift the fluff and those editions had more fluff to lift.
Blackmoor would be a almost perfect fit for DCC RPG. The Egg of Coot begs to be converted into a patron.

Re: Do we really need clerics and magic healing?
All I know is the guys I play with die WITH a full time healer all the time. After years and years of playing...they still charge down stairs after already setting off traps in the last room. They charge in and attack almost everything that moves and often just risj it all on VERY difficult but avoi...

Re: Do we really need clerics and magic healing?
I like clerics but I'm the only one out of almost everyone I have ever played with. They guys always force one member to play healer unless I add options like it Crawl #1 that make it not so necessary. I do like games like Dragon Age that roll all magic into one thing so mages ect can heal. You stil...

Re: Searching the Room
Haha Played a 2 hour DCC game this morning and decided to mess around with my players when one of them just started full on meta-gaming. "I search the corpses for treasure then the room" "19 gold,3 silver,22 copper and a bucket of sand" Surprised they shrugged and wrote it down. ...

Strange DCC RPG games!
A friend of mine emailed me a while ago that he was playing DCC RPG. He mentioned that the setting was a borrowed home brewed one but I got caught up in other things and well, forgot to ask about it again. He sent me another email saying he LOVED the game. This from a guy who once told me Pathfinder ...

Re: Searching the Room
If the pc's role play the search---lower DC,if not higher DC. Either one is a one shot deal,no failed roll=search again.
I also rarely hide stuff that needs to be searched for and when I do almost always give clues to that fact.

Re: Just modules?
While I wouldn't want to see DCC go the way of Pathfinder,I would like to see more stuff in the way of hardback supplements that have nothing to do with even optional rules but instead a official updated setting. More setting specific patrons,a book of Monstrous Evil(loaded with appropriate monsters...

Re: "recovering the body"
I home ruled it to this. Make a only luck modified roll against DC 12. First of all Players HATE to roll a nat 20 to save there characters and fail. Second of all I'm a softy and figured a base chance of like 40% was big enough for death to still sting but give the guys a break from time to time. Th...

Re: Walking into the Den of Bias ;)
Brand new players in my experience react better to DCC RPG than experienced gamers. People dislike change even if they say they like it. What experienced gamers mean when they want change is they want the exact same as always but with a key 1% difference that makes it better. Funky dice they don't h...

Re: Alignment
Lawful In DCC RPG alignment is more like what team do you play for. The Lawful team promotes civilization and order, justice and law. Certainly not all adherents to Law are upstanding go by the book citizens but all of them cheer for that team if falling a little short themselves. The Chaotic team pr...

Re: Cool minis for level 0 characters
For 0 level characters we just use Chess Pawns. I'm not really sure why as we have lots of miniatures.
I think we started to use pennies at first.
Maybe its a you don't get a miniature until you earn it with first level kinda thing.

I have had my book for a short period of time but in that time it has been abused badly. Thrown across the room by a ten ton gorilla who missed the guy he was aiming at and instead it went into a open washing machine. Thank the Gods of Evil Nickers that laundry hadn't been done in a few days. Droppe...

Man I need to kidnap the staff of:Goodman games,Frog God Games and those Kobolds over at Kobold Press and work vile dark evil magics on them. Those three companies combined into one undead army of Role Playing goodness would give me the means of TAKING OVER THE WORLD! Muhahahahahaha!

MONSTROSITIES
I just bought a new book of monsters called MONSTROSITIES. It's for swords and wizardry but works VERY well for DCC RPG.
I really like the simple way monsters are presented along with a picture for every monster and a short mini-adventure for each one.

Re: what to do with problem players
It seems like your friend struggles with the game he is already playing and doesn't like the thought of learning a whole different game system. You and I might see it as more fun and easier but I think we both come at it from far different view points than does your friend. My advice is this. Ask hi...

Re: what to do with problem players
As far as the whole Tank issue goes, for the most part just realize that is the background he is coming from. Until he gets a lot more experiences under his belt that's the tool set he is working with. At most my advice on that is don't reward it. If he says "Any Tank gear in this stuff" R...

Re: what to do with problem players
What I want to do is this. Cleric spells are white magic and White Wizards cast them. Just make Cleric Magic a kinder gentler type of magic and do away with Clerics all together. That doesn't mean do away with Priests or deities but Priests are more likely to be Warriors ect.. I frankly find Clerics...

Re: what to do with problem players
One of my sons (16 at the time) had a really bad habit of cheating. He would misread dice rolls, forget to add damage and even read adventures we were playing in between sessions. At first I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but eventually it just became too much of a issue. Everyone else at...

Re: what to do with problem players
Boy do I ever have experience in this category! First off realize that getting irked by player behavior isn't unusual for many DM's. Try to not let it bother you. Some people come to the game with less skill sets than others and we all make do with what we have. Instead of looking at it negativity t...

I own the Midgard setting book on pdf and picked up a Zobeck city book used. The Zobeck city book is ok but to be honest I use only the map and general city layout descriptions. Re: Midgard
Dragon Age rpg uses the Age system.
Though to be honest I don't think it is yet in anything besides Dragon Age rpg. It's a nice system but I hate the setting of Dragon Age.
I have the Midgard pdf and the Age section is very very small. Mostly its a fluff book with a little Pathfinder crunch.
