I guess mostly I was thinking about Birth Augur, though I didn't realize it.
After reading your post and going back over the book I guess I do see where being born under a sign and to use Luck at birth as a mark to go by, works.
I'll not mess with it.

Why isn't Luck used more like other stats?
Why isn't Luck used more like Hit points or any other stat? When creating a character is you have a negative number (if I'm right on this)the negative isn't used, only if the number is positive is it used. The character uses the bonus he rolled on the Birth Table regardless of what his current Luck i...

Re: clarification on Mighty Deeds of Arms
I rethought my house rule for Mighty Deeds and removed the AC penalty. The key to by rethinking was this. In my games if you want to use a Mighty Deed the starting number you need to roll on a Deed die is 3. Say for instance you wanted to Strike two ape men instead of just one? A 3 would be necessar...

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?
Compare that to the might deeds at each level that cost the warrior...Nothing? IMO, a spell result in the high 20's + is hardly comparable to a mighty deed. I agree! The Mighty Deeds are WAY WAY out of wack! Your next game add up all the damage(from Might Deed) and effects for the entire game and t...

As one of my players said it"In DCC Chaos is mostly Evil,Lawful is Evil and most Neutral's are Evil! Good is anyone you don't have to roll initiative on within the first twenty four hours."

Only by surprise OR from behind at my table. Not many monsters are going to stand there and leave someone at their back with a drawn blade ect.. but it does happen when surrounded, taken by surprise or the monster simple ignores them. That does happen often in our games when the warriors ect engage a...

As long as the spell doesn't say it requires concentration then no penalty would be assigned at my table. If it does say it requires concentration then he couldn't and still keep up the concentration spell.

Played all day today....pretty dang tired. Two of the fights though she caught issues. The first one was when 6 bandit archers fo...

Re: Wizard Power
The fact that the wizard is burning luck to survive consequences is right and normal. Luck is a resource that, as it depletes, adds additional danger. As a GM, you should begin targeting the wizard with nasty effects as his or her luck depletes -- everything from being a target of choice in battle,...

Re: Wizard Power
The Wizard in question has a +6 to her casting roll at 2nd level. Now I do realize part of this is perhaps not keeping as tight a eye on character creation as I should have. The +3 for Int along with the +1 for luck due to the Luck Roll and +2 for the level is a little much. Should be +5, not +6. D...

Wizard Power
In the Beta Wizards were too hampered by the ever present threat of corruption and misfires ect. In the finished game now though it seems we have gone to far the other way. With the ability to spend a point to negate any too harsh roll the wizards in my game are just running too far amok. Now maybe ...

Re: Spell burn to regain spells
I agree that it reads like it can be cast until failed ect again.
That said the dang Wizards are running amok and should be slammed with a thick book at every available opportunity!
My party wizard seems to roll 18-20 + her considerable bonus all the dang time.

Re: Law vrs Chaos
I like what you propose as much as any other well-thought-out alignment system, but then it is more a dual axis alignment system than the single alignment system of DCC. You propose the good-evil axis that appears to play a significant role, perhaps even moreso than the law-chaos axis, a bit like D...

Re: Law vrs Chaos
Well,a lot of it has to do with the type game I am running. If all I am doing is running dungeon crawls I really wouldn't pay it any mind. Law=good and chaos=evil is just fine in that type of environment. Heck 90% of the time the guys are tromping through a dungeon its Party=Good Everything else tha...

Re: Law vrs Chaos
After thinking about it for a minute or ten I did remember a Lawful group of Elves. Remember those bearded Elves from Classic D&D? Those guys were not the touchy feely type elves in commune with nature, not the free thinkers of the world that they became in later games. Those guys were Lawful and...

Law vrs Chaos
My ideal system for Alignment is close to DCCRPG's. I like the whole Law versus Chaos thing but with all sections being separate from good and evil. Law in it's own way can be just as evil or unhealthy as chaos. If Law were to totally rule then all change would stop. All creativity, freedom, and free ...

Re: Archdloos,The King of Swords
I like this alot! Thanks! Though I think I'll change the name to Arioch for my campaign... just cause this seems classic enough to deserve it. My only suggestion is that I like trying to base Chaos patron/god tables on the d8, because it's, like, the Chaos die. So, maybe make the Sword spell a d8? ...

Re: Archdloos,The King of Swords
For his other two spells of 2nd and 3rd level I'm thinking of something like Summon Demon and Chaotic Transference. The Summon Demon one seems easy enough, just starting out small and ending with some huge massively viscous monstrosity. The Chaotic Transference spell could be a travel spell. Somethin...

While often Intelligent and cunning Archdloos is also a being of vast mood swings. Re: weapons and damage
I am always in favor of damage by class myself. A warrior wielding a mace and shield shouldn't be less or more of a threat than one wielding a Axe and shield or whatever else he wants to use. I think weapon damage as is just leads to everyone slapping the same weapon on their hip. I know in my games...
