Benjamin Marra's DCC RPG Art

Some of you may be aware of Benjamin Marra's "Intermediary Mundi" DCC campaign. If not, http://intermediarymund.blogspot.com/ will take you there. Ben is one of my favorite indie comix weirdos and he has a really strange art style that I think 100% fits into the DCC aesthetic. He's recentl...

Re: 998th Conclave of Wizards

I playtested a version about a year ago. If you're familiar with Vance's Rhialto the Marvelous , that's a fair point of reference. It involves a sort of secret government of powerful (and awesomely bizarre) wizards, and it does indeed take place in a pretty far-out interplanetary venue. I could go i...

Coffin confusion

Hi. Yesterday I picked up The Chained Coffin at my FLGS. There were 2 different price points, which was confusing because the contents listed were the same on every box. I already knew there were different versions of the box but it was still a bit odd. I picked up the $40 one since I was buying sev...

Nice! I'll keep a lookout for that. It's a great shop. GIGANTIC space.

Again, great work on the module.

Re: That's a Nice Looking Bookshelf

Dude, I'm fortunate to have a bit of extra income but I seriously can't believe you managed to sell me a third copy of this game based on spine alone. I mean, the Easley cover is rad but that visor is a no-brainer.

Stats for the Evil Helm of Kneivel are officially mandatory.

Re: What do you think they'll do for issue #100?

I think something with a sci fi bent would be awesome and fit perfectly. I don't want a conversion of Known Realms stuff because it's so easy to convert, and I honestly would love it if GG never put out a campaign setting linking the modules together any more than they already are. The older I get, ...

Re: Best music for gaming

The fact that this thread has name-dropped Tragedy and Wolves in the Throne Room is pretty awesome and just another reminder of how rad this game is. I usually rock a lot of NWOBHM. Basically the stuff I was getting into when I first got turned onto D&D back in the day. My games are very influen...

Re: Free RPG Day

Any idea when this will be made available online? My local ran out before I could snag one. I was bummed to miss out on it, but also quite happy that it was a popular item. :D Guardian Games (that's my FLGS) always does a rad job with their promotions. Also, I gotta say I love the title " The J...

The mail cart just dropped mine off in great shape. It looks AMAZING—actually pretty shocked at how enormous it is.

I'm thinking about faking a migraine just so I can go home and read it.

Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!

Wait...are all of those who received it looking at the Gold Foil? Did they get printed/shipped first? That.....uh....sucks... I think they shipped at the same time. R I C K said on the previous page that he received both the gold foil edition as well as a standard edition. I imagine a lot of people...

Re: What do you have in minds for your players?

Great call on Pirates of Dark Water. I've wanted to do something inspired by it for a while now. I'd thought about doing something inspired by those awful Italian Sword & Sandal films of the 1960's , but I run fairly infrequently and I think Barrowmaze might be a better fit given my harried sch...

Re: References on page 105

I always assumed the "Moorcock" band was Blue Oyster Cult. Thanks for the tip! Moorcock worked with both bands. He wrote a few tracks for BOC, and occasionally performed with Hawkwind. He supposedly even cowrote an absolutely terrible scifi novel featuring the band, called Time of the Haw...

Doom of the Savage Kings question

Did I totally miss out on this? I blew it on making the pre-order deadline, but it still shows up in my cart if I add either the regular or limited edition cover. So, my question is: Was the April 1st deadline ONLY for the free pdf (which I am willing to survive without for now )? Like, if I order t...

I've had it in hardback for some time. I will say that I enjoyed it overall but that the quality varies widely from story to story. A few are very Vancian ( The True Vintage of Erzuine Thale and The Guiding Nose of Ulfänt Banderõz in particular, seem like lost chapters from The Dying Earth, whereas ...

Re: Will the ethos of new modules differ from old DCCs?

We're definitely aiming for a pre-D&D swords and sorcery game. One of the things that really stood out in the playtests at Gegnhis was how "un-D&Dish" the players were behaving. We had one group flat out flee a couple encounters that bugged them out (not trusting to "encounte...

Re: Designer's Blog #2: Pre-D&D Swords & Sorcery

Given that D&D's traditional playable Demihuman races are primarily found in Tolkien (and not the vast majority of the Appendix N titles), what sort of treatment will they receive in the DCC RPG? I know that things like race and class will likely be covered in future design blogs, so forgive me ...

Re: Supporting multiple systems within the DCC's

Late to the party, but: I like the downloadable stat block idea. I've been running Sinister Secret of Whiterock with the 1e conversion doc found right here on this site. It's a blast, and I might even tackle Castle Whiterock this way. The Dungeon Alphabet is also my favorite RPG purchase in a very l...
