Re: Reincarnated Ideas!

I'd love to see B10, Night's Dark Terror, maybe bundled with some other adventures in the area (The Dymrak Dread?). B10 would be awesome! Though it's huge enough to stand on its own without bundling, IMO. I'm unclear whether the references to the Known World in X1 means GG has rights to Mystara/Kar...

Re: Unmarked Map of Morrain?

Haha!! When I sent you those maps I had in my mind you wanted the cleaned Aereth Maps! I just now paid attention to the actual title of the thread! Good job on your scrubbing! I have that map cleaned too, could have sent it, but failed my perception check. :D I like the big world maps too. My theor...

Re: Unmarked Map of Morrain?

PeelSeel's maps inspired me to brush off my GIMP skills (as few as they are) and take a whirl at removing the module numbers from the Morrain map. Here's my go at it:

Unmarked Map of Morrain?

Looking for a map of Morrain that doesn't have modules' locations tagged on it. I wanted something for my players. Fan made is fine as long as it's accurate to the product info.

Re: Just curioius do people have campaigns that go past leve

I would be curious how folks would rate the power levels of characters that get past what I consider "mid-range" (4-6th ish). Coming more from a Classic B/X background, I think of PCs as pretty darned fragile even at higher levels. The biggest differences at higher levels are better saves ...

Re: B2: DCC-style

@Raven Crowking: I like the idea of using the DCC charts to make something unique @Blood Axe: That partially speaks to the compartmentalization I mentioned before. I don't disagree entirely, but it goes back to how much one deviates from the original premise and format of the adventure. I could see ...

Re: B2: DCC-style

Looking over my notes from the B2 read-through, I'm left wondering about the multiple humanoid lairs in the Caves. Originally, I suppose it was deemed a good way to introduce fledgling gamers to the various monsters that they would encounter throughout their experiences with D&D. In a "trad...

Re: B2: DCC-style

I think that, if you are going to DCC-ify B2, you should be aware that some of the Brave Halfling products seem to be directly inspired by that module. While The Ruins of Ramat has some tangential connection to the lizardman mound on the wilderness map, The Vile Worm maps pretty directly to the mad...

B2: DCC-style

Branching from this thread. After going back and forth in the aforementioned thread, I compiled a reading list of Keep-related products. These include the original B2, TSR's Return to the Keep on the Borderlands , and two Kenzer products: Little Keep on the Borderlands and Frandor's Keep . So far I'...

Re: Keep on the Borderlands, Unknown- reprints ? DCC

Even though this adventure isn't really in the style of DCC, I'd love to play it with DCC rules. I'd like to see the maps drawn in DCC style. Ah, but it CAN be: What is the chaos cult doing in those caves? Maybe they're digging for something (or someONE). Is the hermit mad because he saw too much? ...

Re: Keep on the Borderlands, Unknown- reprints ? DCC

I've always liked the idea that the Caves (or "Mines" in HackMaster) were sort of a humanoid "ghetto." (In the original ethnic sense, not the racial.) You have to imagine that so many different humanoids living in close proximity would indicate either a strong, central leadership...

Random encounters
Disease
Vermin bursting forth from the bloated corpse they were searching
Negative reactions from anyone they meet after from the gawdzawful stench that clings to their clothes and equipment.

Re: Keep on the Borderlands, Unknown- reprints ? DCC

I don't own "Return" but I have the others.

As long as we're discussing some of the Hackmaster stuff, "Frandor's Keep" (the HM Basic module they released with their newer edition) has some nice bits in it too. They removed a little of the parody elements, but it's still fun.

Re: NPC exposition and endless flavor text

The backstory (yeesh! I hate that word) is for the adventure itself. The past events that led to the current situation. I want the PCs to at least have the opportunity to know these things going in, because they might learn more about what's actually happening that way. Ahh. Maybe I'm just overcompl...

NPC exposition and endless flavor text

Working on a funnel and part of the premise is the local lord is a former adventure who wants the 0-levels to go into the scary place and find his abducted child. What I want is to explain a little of the relevant background information that the NPC would know. What I don't want is to have paragraph...
