I'm not familiar with that module, but here's how I've arbitrated starting 1st-level NPC classes in the past: I had the party roll 3d6 for their ability scores. After a total is arrived at, I had them roll another d6, and record in parentheses what the stat would be using the normal 4d6 drop-lowest ...

That's easily one of my favorite modules from DCC. Good idea melding it with "modern" characters.

Don't care -- whichever is cheapest, usually, plus I'll buy the books on a whim. Printing them out isn't a big deal, and I don't DM with a laptop, so I don't care about running a game out of a book, either. I'll photocopy what I want the party to see. Kinko's is, after all, open 24/7.
