Re: How to Improve Your Chances of Making an Artifact Check
Hey RD7902 Like @The Disgruntled Poet, I would give the character an improved chance in the situation you described. For example, if a character has learned how to use two or more pistols, they probably understand the basic functions. However, If the new pistol they find has multiple settings when t...

4th and 5th Level Patron AI Wetware for Your Game
Hail Fellow Travelers on the Radioactive Wastelands Need Level-4 or Level-5 Patron AI wetware? I am here to help. Jim Wampler, who was the MCC lead writer and designer, said that the idea was to wait to provide these higher level wetware until later products. (Maybe when Goodman does 7th and 9th lev...

How to Improve Your Chances of Making an Artifact Check
Fellow Wanderers on The Waste A postscript of sorts to my other posts about artifacts. (If you are curious, here is a table that shows your chance of succeeding an artifact check based on your artifact check total modifier and the complexity modifier of the artifact as number and percentage, along w...

You Found an Artifact! Now What?
[ Edited to correct a typo in the number of magic items per average DCC adventure (from 20 to 10) ] Hail Fellow Travelers in the Wastes! This is part three of a look at artifacts. The first one looked at the threefold role of artifacts as encounters, treasures and character class abilities. The seco...

How many Artifacts do MCC Adventures have? (Designing Adventures)
Fellow Travelers in the Wastes, This is the second of three posts on artifacts. The first one introduced the threefold role of artifacts as encounters, treasure, and character class abilities. This one does a deep dive into how many artifacts of what kind, Tech Level and Complexity modifier will cha...

On Artifacts and How They Work as Encounters, Treasure, and De facto Character Abilities
A Happy Radioactive Holiday Season and New Year to All! Artifacts are a key and important part of MCC. They are the default reason for adventuring at the beginning of campaigns. They are not only fun to find, but it is very important that the Judge makes them available to find. Artifacts are encount...

Re: MCC House Rules in Your Game (Updated to v5 on 12/14/20)
Hey Disgruntled Poet Happy Radioactive Holidays! I've replaced the two links and had someone test them, so they should be working now. The Healer mentioning Personality goes back to the kickstarter PDF of the rule book (although there weren't any actual rules supporting it). It got edited out when t...

Essential House Rules -- Character Creation and Classes
Edited to add new links to two files, 12/26/20 Greetings Fellow Travelers on the Wastes! This is the second group of house rules that I have added to my game that I consider essential / very helpful in improving character creation and classes. In some cases, they are rules clarifications and in oth...

Essential House Rules -- Missing or Interpreted Rules
Hail Fellow Riders on the Wastes I have broken out my house rules from the PDF linked above that I think are the most important to consider adding to your game to replace missing rules, clarify existing rules, port from DCC because they make sense to have in MCC, or that are optional rules that I st...

Re: The A-B-C's of Determining Your Shaman's Programs (Superseded by New Post)
Hey Disgruntled Poet Thanks for the feedback! I get it, and I think that is a valid point. Technically, all uses of a Patron AI wetware incurs some sort of obligation, though, so this would just be more. Effectively, though, you are right that it can't be too burdensome to use their base wetware, so...

Re: The A-B-C's of Determining Your Shaman's Programs (Superseded by New Post)
Thinking further after my post above, if a Judge does want to add an option for Shamans to use their wetware or characters to use their mutations after failure / having no slots analogously to Wizards in DCC, I have come up with two optional rules for consideration. Luck to Run Gift Wetware Programs...

Re: The A-B-C's of Determining Your Shaman's Programs (Superseded by New Post)

Re: When are we getting more Lankhmar adventures?
I think our next Lankhmar product is probably going to be The Greatest Thieves in Lankhmar. This was a Kickstarter that funded in March 2020. Per the Kickstarter page, it is a level 3 Dungeon Crawl Classics boxed set that sends characters into the hot cellars beneath Thieves’ House, across the sooty...

Re: The A-B-C's of Determining Your Shaman's Programs
Hey Maceo_the_escher I've been really happy with the discussion around Shaman. Thanks for your ideas and suggestions. I've just gone back to the beginning and rethought my approach. I think I was overcomplicating how Shaman work for getting their programs, because I was hung up with the comparison t...

Revised A-B-C's of Shaman Programs (One More Look at How to Run Shamans) -- Big Change in Approach (Simpler)
Edited for clarity on 12/14/20 Fellow Adventurers in Terra AD My latest, updated look at how to play Shamans within the context of just what the Core Book tells us. This is a big change to what I've done before, but I think I've figured it out. MCC classes are at heart, simple. All my previous effor...

Re: Extended Additional Beginning Equipment
Hey maceo_the_escher Generally, I'm with you about not giving AC for helmets. In the context of MCC, it seems to work, though. Outside of artifacts, there are few ways to gain much AC from armor. Allowing a bit of piecemeal armor makes up for the lack of chainmail or plate armor. Feel free to share ...

There is an official MCC adventure coming out soon. Find an announcement on this very forum. Enchiridion of the Computarchs has been arrivin...

Re: MCC 2nd Edition Core Book Errata and Rules Omissions/Suggestions for a 3rd Printing of the MCC Core Book
Hey maceo_the_escher Like you, I am relatively new to MCC/DCC. DCC Lankhmar is when I first got interested in DCC, and that was after the Kickstarter. That led me to DCC in general, and then to MCC, of which I am a fan -- it reminds me of MA and Gamma World, but with better mechanics. I enjoy the ap...
