Re: The *New* Forum Begs A Moment From You...
Hey! It's looking good. I like that the main page seems to hold more current threads. A suggestion, in word: "ads". Have I been vaporized? Do I still live? Actually, it would be great if the forums had a more in-your-face way of showing off new Goodman and 3PP creations. Think of the back ...

Re: Spell power progression scale
I fell into a rabbit hole on this one. I think the answer lies in spellburn. The [2, 4, 2, 4, 4, 2, 2] pattern means that without spellburn you have a main effect (14-17) shouldered by two less likely worse/better effects (12-13 and 18-19). Oh and plus you get a really good but really unlikely effec...

Re: Spell power progression scale
I wouldn't say memorising the spell effect would be the goal, but rather making the effects more intuitive based on the spell description and the die roll. Some spells in DCC have effects that are exactly like the previous effect, but they last for 1d6 instead of a 1d4 rounds. These are not differe...

Re: Spell power progression scale
to make it DCC I personally wouldn't try to minimize levels of effect, I'd expand! Hear, hear! 1 fumble 2-11 failure 12-13 minimum effect 14-17 normal effect, as in spell description for D&D 18-19 maximum 20+ enhanced I don't know how this gets closer to the goal of memorizing spell charts. Isn...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
 Yes, I had some 0 level pre-gens available - dorky names and all, while two players rolled up their own quartets of 0 level characters, but that is as far as we got. One player was eager to try it and called the other one a wuss for not wanting to. I fluked out with a new group recently. I to...

What is the Wednesday Sword and Board schedule like these days? Is it alternating weeks?

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
... but I can't get the whole group to play it, as they are very resistant to playing any game of D&D where possible character death is a daily thing, especially where the characters rolled up are little better skilled than farmers. IOW, they just don't 'get it' how that can be a fun, character...

Good point! I did not consider that it is usually introduction then amplification of an effect.

What about a calendar?
My aging brain needs a constant reminder that it's now 2020. I look to my office wall and it's bare. Damn, I need to go buy a calendar. Yeah, yeah, my phone and computer have one but it's easy to glance up at the wall, you know? So I got to thinking, you guys could publish an annual calendar. Pros: ...

Re: Spell power progression scale
I don't know the actual reason why this is, but it does add another dimension to the spells. The below is probably obvious but... Suppose you went up by 3's consistently. All spell effects have the same probability, assuming they are within range of the die rolled plus modifiers. You're just as like...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Hello Everyone! My name is Ryan and I'm from the frozen northern wastes, aka, Toronto. My brother and I started with the basic red box when I was 10 or 11. Remember that white crayon you had to use to fill in the numbers on the dice?! The old modules I have are a mishmash of various versions of D&am...

Fun with AI.
I found a tool that can generate somewhat plausible and often funny text from a small sample. It's like having a judge who ate some hallucinogenic slime mold. https://talktotransformer.com/ Input: The ghoul bit into the warrior's neck. Output: The ghoul bit into the warrior's neck. "What did I ...

Re: unlimited lay on hands
The cleric in my campaign is so stricken with failed rolls and disapproval, she’s going to abandon her god and find a new one. I think a lot of monsters would figure this out and concentrate attacks on the cleric. Maybe not a blob monster but definitely goblins and such. Imagine LARPing this: it wou...

Rounds vs turns and timekeeping
I am really new to DCC but so far am pretty confused about rounds/turns and not able to find a clear answer on this board or others. I think I know what the rules say about rounds and turns (a round is during combat and is 10 seconds long; turn is outside of combat and is 10 minutes long). However, ...

Thanks! Glad to see stuff happening. Though Wednesdays are usually bad for me.
I think I will go to the next Thursday session and say hi (and play if it's open).

Re: DCC in Toronto!?
Hi. I'm totally new here and pretty new to DCC.
And I'm looking for a Toronto group!
I saw something going down at Sword and Board Aug 1. Is that still running? Anything regular happening?
