Re: Tuesday, 6 PM, April 18, Mt. Prospect, IL, DCC RPG funne
I'd let them go wherever they want to go but I'd try to hint at the danger to come. Maybe some minions to give the PCs a clue that a big fight is coming that they just might not be ready for. If they ignore the warning then let 'em get creamed. If they do get wiped out, maybe have another set of adv...

Effects of massive spellburn? There's a table out there!
Greetings, I know I've seen it but I can't remember where: there's a table out there that provides possible results for massive spellburn, something to the effect of "when you spellburn 15 make a Fortitude save or suffer a heart attack". Anyone know what I'm talking about? Is it in Crawl! ...

Has anyone seen guidelines/rulings or made a table of the effects of sudden rapid ageing of a PC? If so, please direct me.

Re: Sentient swords handled by differently aligned character
A lawful character ended up with the lawful blade however I'm roleplaying the heck out of the chaotic blade weilded by the neutral character, selling the natural truth of Chaos to serve the character's ambitions of which are being put into the character's/player's head by the sword/me. Yessssss.

Sentient swords handled by differently aligned characters?
How do you handle sentient swords of one alignment being handled by characters of a different alignment? In the D&D Expert Rulebook I see where PCs of different alignments who touch or handle the sword will suffer 1d6 to 2d6 depending on how many steps different they are. Perhaps the special abi...

Generating loot for "corpses of countless victims,..."
"...a few quite fresh...."
My players may have an opportunity to encounter corpses accumulated over hundreds of years. The time it takes to search they could have random encounters. Any suggestions for tools or products to generate what it is they find, loot-wise?

Where (published adventure or setting) might "the distant lands where Ramat used to be worshipped" be located (from the adventure expansion idea in "The Ruins of Ramat")?

Re: Passive perception: Luck or Intelligence?
Right. If it's passive perception, then it just comes down to you saying "you notice this" or not saying that, whichever serves the moment at the table better. So, a 0-level gongfarmer is walking down a hallway. A tripwire runs perpendicular to the hall. The player doesn't specify the PC ...

Re: Passive perception: Luck or Intelligence?
It sounds like you're coming at this from the angle of "If player does X, then they can invoke ability Y — but if they don't do X, there is no chance of using Y"... Whereas the game works well if you just follow ordinary possibility (or even extraordinary possibility). You might hear that...

Re: Passive perception: Luck or Intelligence?
How long does it take to earn a searching/spotting roll? If I understand the question correctly... Anyone has a chance to detect the trouble before it goes off. What that chance is depends on the nature of the trouble and the nature of the character's expertise. This is where Occupation comes in, a...

Passive perception: Luck or Intelligence?
If a PC is walking down a dungeon hallway, I'm going to assume they're looking around unless they give me reason to believe they're not: PCs are walking and having a conversation so they're not as attentive, for example. A PC is walking down a hallway and there's a tripwire running perpendicular to ...

Re: Burn luck to win initiative? Tell player how much to bur
Do you roll in the open, so that even if you don't tell them what they need, they can make a guess-timate? I usually just say what they'd need to burn; haven't run into any negative issues with that. I'm getting better at rolling in the open. I still forget sometimes. But I've said, "If you bu...

Burn luck to win initiative? Tell player how much to burn?
One of my players asked if he could burn luck to win an important combat encounter. He rolled his initiative first before the opposing side and wanted to know the opposition's roll before burning so he'd know how much luck to burn. I said he'd have to gamble on the amount of luck to burn because he ...
