Tips for thieves
My players are at level 4, and the wizard and warrior are both getting nicely into their classes and holding their own. However my thief player is getting a litte frustrated at being weak in combat and not really getting a chance to show off his uniqueness beyond checking for and removing traps and ...

Re: More guidance for prices?
the only "problem" i've got with the rules as written is thieves and carousing. my thieves are avoiding carousing like hell and prefer to lay low since they get back their luck anyways. i mean this is "problem" at my table (a lot of people told me they don't have this "prob...

Re: Throwing a ball of force (Force Manipulation spell)
Yeah, I went for the ranged attack roll for the reasons you mention GnomeBoy. Good to run it by some other people though, cheers.

Re: Need help with my campaign!
Well, I've managed to start solidly on the next section of the campaign, using a mix of The Madhouse Meet and Erikol Was Framed, so we're good for a few weeks anyway! One thing I've found very useful are the carousing rules in DCC Lankhmar. I've changed it so the PCs get the luck as a bonus rather t...

Throwing a ball of force (Force Manipulation spell)
The 12-13 result for the Force Manipulation spell results in 'the caster creates an apple-sized sphere of force that can be hurled as a weapon'.
Does that mean the caster has to roll to hit like a normal ranged attack?

Re: Need help with my campaign!
They've done the great Sailors of the Starless Sea at an earlier time, and I plan to do Doom when they get to the Land of the Eight Cities.
I wonder how other people link together DCC adventures, or does everyone play one offs?

Re: Need help with my campaign!
In fact it's a problem I've found with many RPGs - there's either a pile of unconnected adventures, or a railroady campaign, never that sweet spot between the two.

Re: Need help with my campaign!
Well, Tower and Sea Queen were perfect, and the Lankhmar ones are great (though there's a surfeit of ones that involve breaking into temples). I'm not looking for D&D style, that's why I play DCC - but I wish they'd pull back on the 'extra dimensional flying chaos monkeys in a mad god's cosmic b...

Need help with my campaign!
Mild spoilers! Hope there's someone around here that can give me a bit of help. We've been playing a DCC Lankmar campaign for months now, but I've hit a bit of a wall and need some inspiration. The players started with Masks of Lankhmar, then Ganglords, then they left Lankhmar and, after having thei...

Re: Color Spray spell keeps winning battles
Happened again. Charged into a guard post in DCC Lankhmar where there were 6 ghouls. Cast color spray - 4 of them instantly unconscious, pretty much end of the battle. I hate that damn spell, and the rule that you roll to save using the caster's roll as the DC is ridiculous, because it makes the sav...

Ghouls easier to hit?
I'm curious, why are the semi-transparent Newhon ghouls easier to hit (+2) in DCC Lankhmar?

When are we getting more Lankhmar adventures?
Would love to see some more Lankhmar stuff, our campaign is running along really well. I'm using as many general DCC adventures as I can, but it would be great to have some more Lankhmar-specific ones.

Re: Color Spray spell keeps winning battles
As a 3rd level wizard with an intelligence of 13, he only needs to roll an 8 to blind the target if it fails a save, and a 14 to knock it unconscious if it fails 2 saves. Since the target has to make a save with a DC equal to the spell roll, the blinding save is at least a 20, which is tough to make...

Color Spray spell keeps winning battles
I seem to be in this situation where one of my players keeps using Color Spray to devastating effect. Everytime there's a Big Bad, he casts the spell, gets them unconscious, and bang, that's it, end of what would have been big interesting battle. Anyone else come across this problem? I know DCC is a...

Re: Very basic question about Luck and modifiers
I think that in rules writing, it's possible to write so succinctly and effectively that assumptions aren't necessary.
Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

Very basic question about Luck and modifiers
I've been playing DCC (and Lankhmar) for a while, and it struck me that I may not have got the ability modifiers system correct, especially when it comes to Luck. So, just to confirm ... - Obviously, a player's modifiers from the various abilities change when their ability number changes, right? Eg ...

Re: Running a campaign
Thanks for replying. There don't seem to many people around here, sadly. I'm trying to keep things to the published adventures as I don't really have time to come up with my own, and while I'm happy to wing things to a certain extent, it's good to have a decent framework. Though perhaps I should loo...

Running a campaign
It's a bit quiet around here isn't it? Is there anywhere else DCC Lankhmar is being discussed? Anyway, we're enjoying a Lankhmar campaign, which we started with the Masks of Lankhmar and then continued through Gang Lords of Lankhmar. The latter went especially well and turned into quite a complex we...

Lots of good advice, thankyou! I'll try some of these things out. Good to get different perspectives.
BTW You can actually listen to these games, I posted a link to the audio for them in a thread in the Lankhmar section.

I apologise for the laziness comment, that was ill-considered and rude. And I really appreciate the insight into the thought processes behind what was and wasn't provided, thankyou. I've been GMing for nigh on 40 years, and it's really only been in the last 5 or so years that I've really eased up an...
