Re: Getting Players to Buy Books/Dice

I was once the guy who had everything for every game. both 2nd ed, 3.0/3.5 pretty much cured me of that. Just when I got everything for 2nd ed, 3.0 came out, then they made 3.5 and burnt me for tons of cash. I also feel that $50 for a book is a bit much for an untested product. Once we played it a w...

I say we just leave those innocent monsters alone and just go on our way without fighting.

Luck use and mighty deeds

Generally, is it permisible to use luck to change the deed die to a success?

We had agreed on it at home, but I was wondering what the general consensus is here.

I have no need of special rules, I was just wondering how they stack up to each other.

Why play Dwarf or Warrior?

Dwarf vs Warrior

I looked for this topic and found nothing. With the higher hit point die, deed die, and arms/armor selections which of the two classes seems to work out the best in a group? Is there a real difference other than racial abilities? Do those who rolled Dwarf randomly object to demi-humans being stuck i...

What about Elves who had no choice in classes?

Nothing wrong with a D3 or D2 deed attempt with a little luck on the side.

Re: What can an elf do to avoid corruption?

I mean, can they spellburn or use luck after a 1 is rolled to adjust the die?

Most spells we have read have to fumble and roll a *1* on the misfire chart to gain a corruption. Luck bonus can raise this if it is posative, lower it if it is negative, correct?

Re: Firearms

I also think it should just be a judge call.

I also think a "shield" spell could block a lot of shots.

Open ended dice used in 2nd ed DnD was a D10 and kept rerolling 10s.
This made the possibility of huge damage and D10 is still decent damage...

Swords 1D6
Guns 2D6
Lasers 3D6

Big swords 1D8, 2D6, 1D10,1D12
Big guns 2D8, 3D6, 2D10, 2D12
Big lasers 3D8, 4D6, 3D10, 3D12

Most D20 style games like starwars and D20 modern use these types of stats.

Some clerics are just the favored of their deity.

Loss of favor is harsh, harsher for those who only knew love.

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?

Compare that to the might deeds at each level that cost the warrior...Nothing? IMO, a spell result in the high 20's + is hardly comparable to a mighty deed. I agree! The Mighty Deeds are WAY WAY out of wack! Your next game add up all the damage(from Might Deed) and effects for the entire game and t...

Halflings are pretty powerful as written, so I would tread carefully.

I think they are often overlooked as both a fighter type and a rogue.

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?

Compare that to the might deeds at each level that cost the warrior...Nothing? Well, you've got your spells, just like he has his Mighty Deeds. Neither are guaranteed 100% of the time. You can just crank yours up to 11, if you dare... That is what I paid for with D4 hit points, no armor, ...

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?

I have never had to cut a pound per spell/point of burn. Just the idea of me having to slice off a pound of my own flesh to "seal the deal" I made to get my result is enough of a negative. I certainly do not take it lightly, nor do I down play the effects of the loss of flesh and my weaken...

Re: QUESTION: Warrior Crits (threat range) on second attack.

I don't think that I crunched the numbers on % of hits. If the cap on the die doesn't have a chance of a hit, why give them the attack? As far as crits, like I said last time, I would have to see how it played out. Not one of our characters has lived to level 5 over almost a year and a half. If they...

And lots of these items can be used up in the casting. Sure you can get a +1 bonus.

But there is only enough for 5 uses.... Chose when wisely.

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?

I think a wizard with average 3D6 scores or less, 9,9,9 or 10, 10,10 should be allowed to use the spell burn rules as written. My awesome wizard has a 9 intel and average scores. I think the only huge spell burn I actually did was wizard staff. Sure I got close to the top possible result (I did not ...

Never played the game before and got trapped in a 2 year long prison sentence with the cleric with a 5 personality? The wizard with the 3 stamina and 1 hit point per level? ...the deity has told them he/she will not heal opposite or opposing aligned Party members any longer until the Cleric converts them to their religion... We'll see how that plays out. So when they can't get healed from within their party, what then? Personally, I like the idea of a class mechanic t...
