Re: Level 1 adventure for 4-5 PCs

I've decided to run Well of the Worm next. According to reviews it's a less deadly module, so I think it fits well for a party new to DCC! Don't be afraid to kill characters, death is very much a part of the game (particularly in the funnel and at low levels). Part of learning to become a good play...

Re: Thieves World

I have both the Green Ronin d20 stuff and the Chaosium stuff (the box, plus some of the FASA adventures). The Chaosium set is great and one of my most prized gaming possessions. A perfect blend of just enough detail, it's stat-ed for multiple systems, has great maps, it's easy to reference during pl...

Re: Sorry Im in a bit of rush can someone give me an idea of

Just change the DC of the lock/door/portal/whatever. If it was a DC 10 Strength check without a crowbar, make it a DC 5 Strength with a crowbar check instead.

Re: Monsters in Lankhmar

In response to the OP. If you want to see some monsters stat-ed up, the TSR AD&D book Deities and Demigods (or the version renamed to Legends & Lore) has a section on Lankhmar and includes something of a bestiary (along with stats for Fafhrd Grey Mouser, gods and other major characters like ...

Re: Best monster, treasure books to supplement DCC with?

I'll just go ahead and put in a plug for "The Mother of All Encounter Tables" and "The Mother of All Treasure Tables" from Frog God Games/Necromancer (out of print, but still available in pdf format). I used to play DnD miniatures with Greg Ragland, the author of TMofET, and he ...

Re: How much luck do you throw around?

I'm kind of stingy I guess? I've always tied it to finishing "big things" or taking great risks. If I had to put an average on it, players regen 1 point of luck every 2-3 levels.

Maybe he was thinking of Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea? Except, definitely no halflings in that game.

So, in this case, if they flipped the body, and I was the GM, I'd say that the guy has a long recovery in front of him, find a way to hand wave as much of that a...

Give the players ample opportunity to retreat killer encounters and a few hints and you should never have to fudge again.

If anybody is looking for inspiration in their homebrewing efforts at replacing demi-humans, I heartily recommend looking at Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea. Can you write more words about this? Sure. Mainly if you are looking to mine it in efforts to retool DCC demi-humans, it ...

Re: How do you all handle Injuries

I found it helpful to use a random table to determine breaks. Cognition Pressworks whipped up a pretty handy reference, but I can't for the life of me remember where I downloaded it from originally, but here's the link to my copy https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/#folders/0B9F0pyfarmViWGhIelc5YS1jT...

Re: New wizards and spells

I leave it up to the player to decide how his wizard came into his spells (maybe that weirdly notched rune-staff that his grandpa handed down to him all those years ago actually contains formulae and only now did it all come into focus). Also I tend to let some time pass between the funnel and where...

If your players are comfortable doing it, it might be worth letting them play a couple of 1st level characters ... Also "redshirts." Lots and lots of "redshirts."

Re: Equipping the table

It might be worth printing off Jeremy Deram's DCC RPG reference booklet (free in pdf here) or you can spring for the really nice POD version from lulu.com for a pretty low price.

This probably gets more use than anything at the table in my experience.

Re: How do y'all handle lvl.1 Elf armor?

It's left up to the judge to decide what Mithril is, how much it's worth, etc. I'm thinking of copper (a la Runequest Aldryami) or bronze. The problem for me is that 'Mithril' is a loaded term in gamers' heads, with ideas that it's a "superior" metal to steel. The nice thing about using b...

Re: Making the Dwarf more unique

I think the general idea is how to make Dwarfs more their own thing, not more powerful. Like most here, I like the class as written, but I do agree that they could use something to stand out more. Does the Dwarf stand out any less than the Warrior? In simple terms the Warrior is a better fighter th...
