Re: Tome of Horrors - 28mm Minis Kickstarter
This kickstarter picked up like $13k today unbelievably! Here is a link to an updated show of all of these crazy minis: http://home.earthlink.net/~serpine/Gaming/images/ToHCombine62900Small.jpg The next stretch goal including two huge minis - a glass drake and a hulking giant in chains is inevitably...

Tome of Horrors - 28mm Minis Kickstarter
I probably should have shared this here a month ago, although I bet a couple GG forum folk already know of it, but Center Stage Minis put together a really sweet kickstarter for a module called Tome of Horrors - I don't have a lot of interest in the module, but the monsters are very unique and I int...

Playback: Portal Under the Stars-Advice, What I learned, etc
Hey everyone - I finished GMing Portal Under the Stars for a party of 20 0-level characters (5 players) and just wanted to write about it for anyone else who is thinking about using this adventure! Background info: my gaming group consisted of me as GM, 2 players who had played a few sessions of D&a...

Awesome! I didn't catch the reason for the removal of a characters heart - were the players just bloodthirsty?

Re: DCC Podcast
Hey Mel, this was super awesome! I hope you post some more DCC games - I'm in preparation to run some games and I've been looking all over for something like this! Seems like you've got some great players there with the right attitudes about their dying PCs and also the right smarts to keep low-leve...

Re: Writing DCC Adventures: What's been done to death?
My absolute favorite section of the DCC RPG core book was the section "The Great Wheel", bullet point one, where the author recommends: "the judge is encouraged to begin extraplanar encounters at low levels." I'm relatively sure that there was a great rift in my brain, as the rig...

Re: DCC Fiction?
Interesting thread. The DCC RPG core book is pretty scarce in detail about the setting, so there is much to think about in terms of the effects of literature on the game. Something like this could quickly turn into a bunch of cowboy authors coming up with settings details that the community grows at...

Re: Writer Q & A - Mike Ferguson
I would be interested to hear your thought process regarding starting from scratch with a new party on a 0-level DCC RPG module that could easily serve as the launch pad for a full campaign? For example, how would you go about making the challenges interesting for characters with such little skill a...

Improvement: Usability Issues in Product/Online Store
- I would love to see a tabular list of DCC modules with details such as Release Number, Party level, general description, title, author, etc, etc. The Goodman online store is great for the fact that it enables me to actually get something, but none of the online stores are very informative. For exa...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge! The Finals Have Begun!
I'm a huge fan of the D&D Ranger class, but I have to say, I am a bit put off by the uncanny similarity in DCC. In accordance to the Appendix N flavor, I do think there are a lot of things about the D&D3+ Ranger that simply aren't sensible in DCC. For example, favored enemies and dual-weildi...

Re: Mercurial Magic "Roll Again Twice"? - Completely Baffled
I'm still having a bit of trouble with this percentage thing though - do I have this right? For example, if I roll a d100 with a result of 40 and I have a Luck modifier of -1, I get -10%, so does that mean my result becomes a 30? I think it means it becomes a 36. 10% of 40 is 4 right. 40 - 4 = 36. ...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Those look great! Thanks! I just received some dice from your shop which are real boss, they have some serious size and weight to them! I like them a ton, I think their size is a good talking point which will be a lot of fun for my players. I found out from Game Science that you can custom order a ...

Re: Mercurial Magic "Roll Again Twice"? - Completely Baffled
Thanks for the reply! For the roll again twice aspect, I can grok that and I like your idea of doubling where applicable ("every time you use this spell, TWO people you love die!"). The wizard class for DCC is pretty interesting - it's almost like it's there for entertainment value to the ...

Mercurial Magic "Roll Again Twice"? - Completely Baffled
Hello everyone, I am hoping someone might be able to explain the meaning of the 99- and 00- d100 roll for the Mercurial table? "Roll Again Twice" - does this mean that this spell will have 2 mercurial effects? If so, what does it mean if you roll the same number twice? I am additionally co...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Ah, yes, but multiplying is not how it works. To wit: 2x1=2 2x2=4 2x3=6 etc So your suggested multiplying, with a d8 would give a range of results like: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16. (Might be useful for something, I suppose.) Durp! Wow, what an oversight!! Didn't even think a...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Control die refers to using a 2nd die of any type - in the case of a d14 you would be rolling a d8, re-rolling any 8s until they aren't 8, and rolling a 2nd die of any type... if that die rolls low, then 1-7 on the d8 refer to 1-7, if that die rolls high, you add 7 to the result showing on the d8 (...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Someone pointed out that you can even play DCC with only 3 dice total: d8, d10, and d12 . d3 = d12 divided by four d4 = d8 divided by two -or- d12 divided by three d5 = d10 divided by two d6 = d12 divided by two d7 = d8 re-roll 8's d8 = standard d10 = standard (I'm old and remember when it ...

Re: Question on leveling and hit points...
Hey everyone, I'd like to revisit this post to see if maybe someone could provide some clarification to allow me to distinguish between HP and max HP per level. For example, does a 0 level character have a Hit Die of 1d4 with current hit points of whatever you roll on a 1d4 during character creation...
