Re: Multiclassing... would it make godlike characters?
I'm certain that it would create these weird power combos. I agree the classes are fun on their own. Thiefs and Halflings with their abiliy to regenerate Luck makes an uber powerful character. A Cleric/Dwarf or a Cleric/Warrior would create fighters with the ability to regenerate themselves at will(...

Re: Are Warriors not to use scrolls?
I found the other page. It's page 106 under the section "Spell checks by other classes". It says: "A character from an untrained class rolls 1d10 for his spell check instead of a 1d20. He does not add any modifier for an ability score or caster level. A Trained thief may roll a higher...

I swear I've read something different but I can only find stuff on it on page 373 at this time. Maybe tommorow I'll find the section that utterly confused me. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Are Warriors not to use scrolls?
guyz, I believe I've read that Warriors, Halflings and Dwarfs do get to try to use scrolls. But they get to roll a 10 sided die without any bonuses to see if they make their spell check. But the problem seems to be that spell checks generally succeed if at a minimum of 10 + (spell level x 2)! Does n...

Re: More spells? Would you support a SpellBook for Kickstart
I guess I need to restate this. I would love more spells. Even if they are classic Dnd spells redone for DCC, I wouldn't care. It just means more variability for our wizards and elfs.

maybe the annual will have a quick chart of chickens and walruses to use in our game? I don't even know what the annual is supposed to be about but I hope its useful.

Re: Are Psionics to be like DCC Magic?
yeah, I think the spell duel system points the way to a mental battle system. I hope we don't ever have a Psionics class but make it a option that comes from the characters background... or an accident of birth.
Maybe latching 1rst edition psionic rules to our characters is the answer?

Multiclassing... would it make godlike characters?
dear dccers, I was contemplating this and I have strong reservations about multiclassing in the game. Just think how terrible a Theif/Warrior or a Thief/Wizard would be. A being that has the ability to regenerate Luck with the other classes abilities is too dangerous. Why not use your Luck and make ...

Are Psionics to be like DCC Magic?
madness, mind powers, mind flayor blasts! Telepathy. I have no idea where mental powers snuck in out of Appendix N literature. Can't recall a Mind Flayer anywhere in any of the books I've read. But we know mind monsters exist. I'm trying to envision if there mental powers would be like DCC spellz. I...

Re: How are you converting old Dnd modules to DCC?
heh, if you think that's crazy I'm trying to figure out how to figure out when a character would be a Hero in my freshly arrived Book of War! It seems in the book characters don't really count until they reach level 10 in dnd terms, then they become heroes. I'm thinking perhaps level 2 or 3 fo...

Re: More spells? Would you support a SpellBook for Kickstart
I don't know. Part of me looks at how variable the spellz are now, there's always something new to be generated for them. All I can say is put something interesting together and stick it out there. That or make a cheap pdf and put it on rpgnow, lulu, etc... .

is the annual going to be a big book or a dinky one? And is it going to have all the monsters from the modules printed that year in it?

DCC is not Dnd! ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
I know you don't like some of the old good mods, but I still do. I'd almost rather have some of the mods than the hard cover 1rst edition books. I'm sure evilman games is listening and takening my wisdom into consideration.

Re: How are you converting old Dnd modules to DCC?
I guess your right... just throw em in there and see what happens. I was thinking of a divide the suggested levels by 2 way of doing it but that's probably bogus. 10-14 becomes 5-7. Maybe evilman games can get the rights to redo some of these classic modules in DCC! I know that's a fantasy but I can...

screaming "Blood and Souls for Arioch!" seemz to work pretty good. Have you tried that yet? Of course you need to whack some dorks first to make it potent.

How are you converting old Dnd modules to DCC?
guyz, I was wondering how you are doing conversions for Dnd mods to DCC mods. Specifically I was curious about setting the right level for DCC. I was thinking about G123 and A1-4, possible D1-3. Against the Giants was mid level for Dnd, level 10-14 i believe. Can't remember D1-3... probably higher. ...

Re: Patrons without the spells
Arioch appears to be the one who gave the Stormbringer sword to Elric's line. He also appears to give battle aid in other ways, as he shows up and starts destroying everything. He seems to be a great boon to Elric.
But we all know its dealing with his ultimate doom. Patrons aren't nice guyz.

Re: Patrons without the spells
yeah, he does things differently but in an illuminating way.
I think he breaks the bonds of DCC character class and race but I'm still gathering my thoughts on that one. Could have big ramifications for my game.

Patrons without the spells
guyz, I went through Elric: the Making of a Sorceror a little while ago. It goes through how Elric acquired his relationships with beings we would consider Patrons in DCC. Now what was interesting was how he didn't go the route of spell casting to get the relationships. One he acquired by freeing th...

Re: dear dungeon doctor
part of the problem is that the game seemed designed to give the players maxing in things. First there is point buy. Then there is gaining ability points when you go up levels. Its a real shock to not have that 25 strength score on the character sheet. I guess we should ask if its best for someone w...

Re: Mercurial Magic "Roll Again Twice"? - Completely Baffled
Thanks for the reply! For the roll again twice aspect, I can grok that and I like your idea of doubling where applicable ("every time you use this spell, TWO people you love die!"). The wizard class for DCC is pretty interesting - it's almost like it's there for entertainment value to the...

Re: Barbarian Rage, is it Barbaric?
I was thinking last night that it an option would be to tie "berserk rage" to the characters background instead of having it be part of a class. Zulth of the Wolf Steppe People was born with the fury that had been noted among his people. In times of desperation, they would howl at the moon...

Re: dear dungeon doctor
while I say yer right when it comes to adding feats to a character as it goes along. With Deeds you don't need to do that. A Deed is what you can imagine. As you improve as a character your ability to succeed at a Deed goes up. A Deed that was too hard to do at 1rst level becomes doable as you go up...
