Is our vision of Conan wrong?

I had to tink about this last night after I finished the Slithering Shadow:
http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks06/0601051h.html

Conan has hair on his chest!!!!!

I've never seen a Conan drawn with hair on his chest. Has it been a mistake all these long years?

Re: Do we need War rules?

I'd tink you'd need at least 2 levels of detail: 1. mass combat, where you treat many as one 2. individual combat, where the PC's suddenly are fighting some-one/thing That's how it worked out in the conan story. It went from big units clashing to him fighting the main bad guyz. I'd assume that #2 wo...

Do we need War rules?

guyz, I just read what I tink are the 1rst four conan stories. Out of those, 2 of em had conan leading/fighting in war. There have been battles in other books too, The Broken Sword and Stealer of Souls come to mind. So war doesn't seem foreign to sword and sorcery to me... but something that happenz...

Re: DCC RPG G+ community page

was this set up by Goodman gamez or by sumone in the community. I don't see Goodman out there anywhere... Does it really matter? It seems to be a cool G+ community. I think this topic should become sticky. I... I.. didn't mean anything by it. Thanks for letting me know who I'm dealing with Stohy.

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

it has to do with the Tolkeinization of our society. They just don't mesh well with the Epic Poohish potrayal in The Broken Sword. I heartily recommend The Broken Sword over The Lord of The Rings. Its never boring and its much shorter than the LOTR. I can see why it was so influential with Moorcock....

Re: Varying the types of treasures, beyond just gold

give em nothing. See what they do if they are not rewarded after all the hard work. Will they adventure again if the investment leads to a loss. Make the king hunt them down after they return. How could the go on an adventure and not get any gold... they need to pay their taxes. Put em in the stocka...

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

I don't see myself as an old gamer typo. I have a hard time even getting excited about the old time dnd games I have. Couldn't even finish bg2 the other day. Played planescape: torment awhile back, got really annoyed that I had to talk to someone in the game to change my class all the time. What wer...

Re: Traps and Appendix N

There'z at least one Fahrd and G Mouser story where I swear there are "traps". Its the one where they go into the forest to reach a temple thing. They fight some guyz outside of it and then enter it. They meet some crazy old dude inside and he gets killed by the place. I think its the 'Jew...

Re: Making an Elric

its sum form of human.

Im not sure if it was all stormbringer that did all the fighting, though I thought there were times where it seemed Stormbringer was calling the shots.

Maybe he is an awesome fighter who has his abilities made available to him by the strength that Stormbringer provides?

I have to admit that greed got to me to. I could use dat extra 20-30 bucks on some other things... like modules and books. But there is little doubt in my mind what is the ultimate gaming cover!!! Re: What'z your favorite Dwarf look?

Any look that is not SLIM. Some of the dwarves from the Hobbit movie do not look like dwarves. They should be stocky more than anything. yeah, sum of em look like guyz with beards. I tink they did that because they want the general audience to be able to relate to the dwarfs better. I haven't seen ...

A badge... the DCC Lawman!

Are Tolkein'z books the only hobbit/halfing stories?

guyz,

just curious, since I haven't read all of the Appendix N books: are they the only source of the midgets we call halflings/hobbits? Or are there sum other ones that use them?

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

I know that crypts and things deleted the cleric and magic user. Melted their spell lists together and added the Magician character class. Spellz are divided up into white, grey and black magic. Each of the colours does different things to the caster.

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

I saw awhile back on a review of either DCC Rpg or a OSR retroclone where the reviewer talked about how Dnd had changed over the yearz to the point where it was normal to see a halfling paladin with a talking pony that could teleport anywhere. I don't tink I could play in a group with that running a...

I was probably tinking of the Magnificent Van Opps when I wrote that. There's some random event where the whole of Amsterdam vanishes from the world... as well as the party. I'm sure theres more to that than what I read but it seems silly to just annihilate everything without any reason. Hey guyz, y...

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

well, the elves do know healing runes and such in The Broken Sword. Scafloc would have bit the dust many times without Imrics healing. In Tolkein, was it not the elves that healed Frodo with Magic after he got the Nazgul knife? but they weren't god(z) worshippers. Id think it be better to give them ...
