Re: Do we need War rules?

Re: Different Dice Combos, Different Distributions

man, I dont know... I'm justing having some fun with the friggin program and dice. Just altering the dice changes how things will play out. a d10 + 1d2 + 1d6 gives me a equal probability for 9-12. This is food for thought for me. Do I want to alter how I do my character ability rolls for the game? W...

I looked at the 1d14 + 1d2 + 1d2 combo, and its giving me equal chances for rolls from 5-16.

Re: Do we need War rules?

Have you done any tweaking to it yet for DCC? Honestly, no I haven't. I do think it could be done with some minor tweaking and on-the-fly rulings though. If you want to learn more check this out: http://deltasdnd.blogspot.ca/2011/09/book-of-war-core-rules.html In that link you can find one of the p...

Re: Different Dice Combos, Different Distributions

I was dorking around with a dice rolling/bell curve program and I got sum pretty interesting results with the 1d12 + 1d3 + 1d3 combo. It turns out that you have the same chance generating a 7-14 ability score, and that's the highest. That contrasts with having the same chance to as getting a 10 or 1...

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

I have to wonder if Anderson when he wrote drow in The Broken Sword was using an alternative name for Troll. After reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drow_%28Dungeons_%26_Dragons%29 The word "drow" is from the Orcadian and Shetlandic dialects of Scots,[5] an alternative form of "tr...

Different Dice Combos, Different Distributions

http://fromkickassistan.blogspot.com/2012/12/for-love-of-funky-dice.html this is a great blog post. I had no idea that diddling with dice combos would give us all these different distributions. I never thought about it this way. Its way cool that DCC is edging us into these new game freedoms. Makes ...

Re: Darkness spell and Infravision

my guess, and it only is a guess, is that it blocks out all wavelengths of light. We can't be certain without the proper equipment and a sorcerer to cast the magic. Tests, we need tests!

Has anyone cast this in game and seen what happened to the infravision capable?

Re: Were Elven Clerics a big historical mistake?

He mentions drow once in the book but I never really saw what I would consider a dark elf. And when he mentioned drow he didn't give a description of what it was. It was like "Skafloc wondered if that was a drow sitting in the darkness". Don't know if Gygax said, "oh drow! I can use t...

I was checking Paizo's store out for DCC stuff and saw this: "Limited Edition #3 Hardcover Image not yet available" http://paizo.com/products/btpy8ss0?Dungeon-Crawl-Classics-Roleplaying-Game is this madness, a prognostication or do they know something we don't know yet? I haven't heard any...

Re: Do we need War rules?

the battle rules that i enjoyed the most were the ones in the pendragon rpg. absolutely beautiful at portraying battlefield carnage and chaos. I'll second that. Pendragon's battle rules have always been my favorite as well. I've adapted them to numerous other games across the years. are you talking...

I thought that that elves were based on Anderson, Tolkein... Appendix N! According to Moorcock Anderson and Tolkein elves should be similar since they were inspired by the same materials but just did different things with them.

guyz, its the craziest thing. I was checking out Battlesystem info on the web and came across that there was another war system in BECMI called War Machine. Some describe it as more abstract and simpler than Battlesystem. Don't know much more about it. Battlesystem sounds like it does some weird stu...

Re: Is our vision of Conan wrong?

The more I read the actual stories, the more I pictured Conan with furs, chainmail shirts, or breastplates on, instead of being bare chested. The only thing that would kind of interfere with my image of Conan is facial hair. I know it doesn't make much sense for a barbarian/mercenary/bandit/pirate ...

hrmph, Im half tempted to pick up the Battlesystem 2e version and see if I can weld it to DCC. Maybe more rules than I want to deal with though. 120 pages of rulez are alot to deal with.

I like it when people are true the originators vision. I've never wanted conan to be some femmy greek statue. I've wanted him to be Barbarian!

Do we want Conan the beautiful or Conan the brute?

I leave it up to you to decide.

what if a warrior wants to be an Elf? I know it seems absurd but in The Broken Sword, Skafloc was a human who was Elf!

Are there maximum levels a multi can ascend to?

after reading this I understand why I abandoned calling DCC a dnd variant. The abbreviation Dnd doesn't have any common meaning behind it anymore. DCC is the new unifying abbrev.
