Converting 5e Modules into DCC

Has anyone gone through the conversion of something in 5e into the DCC system? I want to give my players a taste of playing DCC but with the familiarity and structure of a 5e style module plus some added dcc weirdness of my own making. My initial thought was take the HP and DMG of 5E mobs and halve ...

Re: Critical Tables question

What you are missing are a few more levels. On higher levels you roll with bigger and more dice on the critical table. On some levels even the crit table used changes. Just check out the section about your character class to see what table and die you have to use during a crit - eg. a level 6 warri...

Critical Tables question

So I was playing a little DCC the other night and happened to see a few crits throughout the night from a warrior and a dwarf in the party and looking at the table it made me wonder how in the heck do players ever get to the high end of those tables. The warrior for example was rolling a D12 and the...

Re: How do you convert D&D character class levels to DCC?

I've never played high-level DCC, but IIRC comments from those who have suggest that the 2:1 ratio breaks down, and perhaps a 10th Level DCC character is potentially more potent than a 20th Level "D&D" character... That could make an interesting tourney to find out... The problem is t...

GM Combining DCC amd XCrawl. How do I....

Hey all, I am trying to combine a DCC and XCrawl campaign together and so far I think I have most of it down. Where im getting bogged down is I want the crawls to feel like a team vs team competition rather than a time based competition but I cant figure out how to fairly figure out how far or how w...

Re: How do you all handle Injuries

I use the dice chain when I think it is appropriate. I also have a 12-sided die marked with body parts to indicate where a bone is broken. If you break your foot, you might be able to hobble around on a crutch. Better to ask the cleric for help, if you have one in the party. Ahh the dice chain I do...

Re: Pathfinder/3.5 Conversions

Thanks for the info Aquebman. I actually did start going through the website looking at rules and such and finally decided why bother. I am not going to run a pathfinder game and what I have played I didn't enjoy. So instead of trying to get a really close conversion I decided to instead go with my...

How do you all handle Injuries

Hello All, First off let me say I adore DCC and everything about it but I must admit sometimes I am weak at doing things on the fly and that is when I must refer to the forums. I am curious as to how you all handle injuries from a mechanical standpoint or if you only use them as pure flavor? So far ...

Re: Making the Dwarf more unique

Ive always felt like Dwarves are the masters of using shields in combat and its reflected clearly in the rules of DCC. A warrior doesn't get a free shield bash he'd have to blow his MDoA to do that. My dwarf gets two attacks can bash the bloody hell out of something else AND gets a mighty deed. Warr...

Re: Advice for a new Judge..NPC Wizard will kill them..

My way of dealing with this is to handle NPC Wizards exactly like PC Wizards along with spellburn. Generally wizards in my campaigns only spellburn big in drastic situations and thats the same with my NPCS. My NPC Wizards will only use a minor amount as needed but if they are on death's door or some...

Re: Pathfinder/3.5 Conversions

Well I can tell you that Pathfinder generally gives you more attacks once your Base attack Bonus is high enough so for a PC +6 Base attack gives an extra attack at a lower amount. I believe monsters are the same way but based on their Hit Dice. The other difference though is that natural attacks in ...

Re: Strength check query

Also you could set a minimun stat requirement to even attempt it. Either let a person who has the requisite stat amount auto complete it or only let those characters make an attempt. That way you keep out the weakling mage but you dont knockdown the buff Fabio mage.

Re: how do you handle casting in melee?

Eventually disapproval will come down and bite the cleric. Possibly even removing them from the fight depending on what the dm thinks their god will require. I personally think its a dm call. Dcc is wide open to allow for this sort of open interpretation so for the OP if your running a game id say c...

Re: how do you handle casting in melee?

I only use the Withdrawal rules that are in the combat section. Casting has its own downsides that heavily play themselves up in DCC and if they try to run away they take a free attack. If they dont run away they get stabbed at every turn while in melee and any attempts at concentration will be almo...

Re: Funnel built around a big fire....could use help and ide

Thank you all for the tips and advice, they will all be going under advisement. I ended up getting bumped up and asked to DM today so I may have to turn to a module for our first adventure and turn this into something later on down the line or maybe a future campaign if people are interested. Again ...

Re: Funnel built around a big fire....could use help and ide

I should add that the very first scene of my homebrew funnel occured in a barn where the PCs were hired to resolve a mystery, and 10 minutes into the game the barn was set on fire (and the doors, blocked from outside) and the PCs needed to escape while a few (3?) archers waited outside for those th...

Thanks for the responses guys I appreciate it. Sky you hit on the biggest thing is that I have only just now started to built beyond the initial encounter with the fire so that is indeed an unfinished oasis of possibilities. Its starting in Hightop which is a thorp of only about 25 people but is con...

Re: Arabian Nights after DCC days

Sounds like someone ported themselves into Azi Dahaka worshipping territory which could certainly add some FUN! to the parties ventures. I don't know i've heard very much about numbers converting with DCC. Seems like most of the community will take monsters as they are in the core book or describe t...

Funnel built around a big fire....could use help and ideas

So I decided to try my hand at DM'ing outside of a module for the first time in DCC. I am trying to start with a funnel and my first idea was to base it around a huge fire breaking out in the parties home town. The fire is being caused by a small fire elemental that got loose from a visiting wizard ...

Since I have a lot im tracking running npc followers is not necessarily ideal. Has anyone made it work with just 4? Like say running modules a level over recommende...

Also are you using the average HP in pathfinder stuff? I either do that or roll it on the fly because thats more fitting with dcc to random it up I feel.

Re: Classic (A)D&D Modules Ideal for DCC

Now i'm wondering how does level of DCC parties work out in relation to old AD&D Modules? I have found that 3.5/pathfinder modules tend to work out where double the level works for a DCC party. So for example a 6th level module would work out pretty well for a 3rd level DCC party. If anyone has...
