Are you still accepting players?

Re: House Rules We Love

I'm going to do my best to run my first campaign RAW, but there were a few things that I decided to change. 1. I let them do 4d6 and drop lowest to generate ability scores. Blasphemy, I know, but this is a group that has been playing with alternate rolling rules for over a decade. They've been cond...

Yes, they are weekly.

Also based off the assumption that someone working what would be equivalent to a minimum-wage job in our world is pulling in about 2cp a day.

Re: Varying the types of treasures, beyond just gold

Here is what I have so far. Please keep in mind that I haven't proofed or play-tested this yet. I noticed it does share some similarities with Ragboy's. DCC LIFESTYLES ABJECT POVERTY – You live in filth and squalor with the rats and the vermin, eating scraps, garbage, and carrion left behind by your...

Re: Varying the types of treasures, beyond just gold

I'm stealing those too. I'm afraid that some in my group would feel a little railroaded if I forced it on everyone, but those that choose to engage in drunken revelry between adventures are fair game. I'm guessing that after seeing the chart, most of them will want to use it. They love stu...

Re: Can Clerics only know 4 spells or can pick 4 every morni

I've been thinking about this. Each god will have their own list of spells which will basically consist of the Cleric spell list, minus any spells that don't make any sense for the deity they choose, plus a few spells specific to that deity. I'm going to allow my clerics to choose their initial spel...

Re: Secret Doors and Surprise

I do secret doors the same way. I'm actually thinking of handling surprise that way too. If a player specifically mentions his character doing something that would negate the surprise, then he's not surprised. Otherwise, "Surprise!" Generally I expect the players to have a lot more opportu...

Portal Under the Stars Solo (Warning: Long)

So I decided to run my wife through Portal Under the Stars in preparation for my upcoming campaign, partly to help familiarize myself with the system and partly to shake off the cobwebs from over a decade away from the screen. My wife loves board games, CCGs and deck-builders, but prior to this her ...

Re: DCC made the top 5 RPGs list!

I tend to avoid role-playing forums like the plague. Way too much nit-picky vitriol in most of them for my liking. I lurked here for long enough to realize that people were much more sane than most other boards I've seen. I can't decide if that's because the board is moderated or because people draw...

Re: Race separate from Class

This isn't half bad, but it does mean that demi humans will always be >> humans. Well, maybe not >>, but certainly >. Yeah, to a point, but it's a small advantage, it does come with a small disadvantage (less move or weakness to iron), and some possible social stigmas. In my campaign Elves and Dwar...

Re: Activity included as part of movement action

Sorry, I haven't run my first DCC game yet, so I can't help with many specifics. I can give one example from my AD&D days: When the players discussed tactics among themselves during a combat and the conversation went over 60 seconds of real time, I would rule that they spent an action shouting p...

Re: Race separate from Class

I went with allowing all of the races to transition to any of the basic classes when they hit 1st level while only the specific race can take its racial class. If a dwarf, elf, or halfling chooses any class other than their racial class, they retain the racial abilities and disadvantages they had at...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.

I sometimes make custom walking sticks in my spare time. I'm far from being renowned in my region for them but they still sell for about 75-125 apiece. I wanted to go with a mostly barter system for my campaign, but I vaguely remember that being more hassle than it's worth every time I've tried it i...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.

Is a club just a stick? Or is it a weapon that won't fail at the exact wrong moment in battle? To wit, I never see baseball players use any old branch when they are at the plate. But then again, I'm not really watching baseball, so maybe they do... Essentially. You wouldn't want to just pick up any...

Re: Activity included as part of movement action

As long as you are consistent, you should be fine.

If you decide that pulling out a potion and drinking it takes an action for a PC, don't let your villains drink a potion later without taking an action to do it.

Re: Mixed Party Alignment

I would think most Chaotic deities would be okay with a priest healing his meatshield, as long as the end goal promotes entropy. Healing is an excellent tool for conversion. Sure, but that begs the question, is the cleric trying to convert the Lawful character? And, why is the Lawful character then...
