When it comes to more obscure music, their radio player is much better than pandora.
I've used both and I always go back to Pandora over lastfm.
Call it personal preference.

Re: Music of DCC

Not being familiar with Pandora, do I have to be logged in to hear your mix? Clicking the link, the first song that played was by all-female garage band She. And even though is says DCC radio at the top, the next three songs were not from Joseph's list, either... :? As far as I know, no. Pandora al...

Doom of the Savage Kings: NPC artwork (Spoiler!)

When I was GMing the first half of this module the PCs spent a lot of time dealing with the mad widow Ymae. While I narrated these scenes with my players, my fiance Marie drew a picture of the mad widow. Though nobody agreed to marry the mad widow, it was later revealed what Ymae's true form was whe...

Re: Race separate from Class

How I would address it, is just let the guy roll up a human Wizard of the same level as the Halfling, hand the Halfling's spell books over to the Wizard then turn the Halfling into an NPC. But that doesn't address the player who wants to be a halfling wizard. Or the player who wants to be an elf cl...

Re: House Rules We Love

I just changed the names of the Lucky score roll results, but kept their effects the same. I didn't like some of them, and felt they should all refer to birth in some way. So now when a player rolls their Birth Augur, they're going to get one of these descriptions: 1 Born during a Harsh Winter 2 Bor...

Re: Doom of the Savage Kings report

An analogy I like to throw around is 80s video games versus modern ones. When you played Space Invaders, Pac Man, and Asteroids you knew that you were going to die; it was just a question of when and how long you could go. The expectations were there up front. But with modern video games you just g...

Re: Doom of the Savage Kings report

Tonight, my players had a TPK in the fens when they got outnumbered and swarmed by swamp jackals. More than half of my damage rolls with the jackals came up as maximum, and the most hit points any single character had was 16. The whole combat lasted four rounds. ... man, that's a bummer. //H They h...

Coup de Grace

I was just reviewing the combat rules and I never noticed it before but there is no exception for the coup de grace, which seems unusual to me and I know my players would revolt if they were unable to slay prone or helpless opponents. Specifically the rules say +1d for attacking "sleeping"...

Re: Custom Character Sheets

After some feedback from players I've included "Weapon Training" sections and bigger sections for "Notes" I still haven't worked on sheets for the Dwarf, Elf or Halfling - my group doesn't use the races as classes - but I do plan on putting them together once I have some more fre...

House rules I've been using: 0-level characters always start with 4 HP, modified by Stamina. If three of your 0-level characters die during their first adventure you can immediately level up the 4th remaining character, but they must take the Warrior class. (I don't use the demihuman classes.) Your ...

Re: Am I missing something?

I think you're on to the right path: it's so much cooler to create magic armor that is unique, fascinating, and fits your campaign. I agree. I've only put one suit of armor into my world, it "blinks" the wearer out of existence for a round when an opponent gets a critical hit against them.

Re: House Rules We Love

Wizards can swap out a known spell for another known spell that they have learned of equal or lesser level. This requires a casting check of DC 15+spell level, and generally takes at least 1/day per spell level to make one attempt, though the caster can try to do it in less time at a DC penalty. Me...

And I think Merl makes an excellent point about using a point of spellburn to cast a lost spell. All but the feeblest of characters ought to be able to keep casting for quite a while unless the dice are just against them. Achieving SECOND level with a 7 intelligence Wizard should be a "true ac...

It doesn't actually say that you're supposed to track the luck modifier on page 19. Wrong. In reference to the birth augur roll: "Note that the lucky roll modifier does not change over time as the character’s Luck changes. ... This modifier does not change if his Luck score changes." But ...

Re: Wizards who never cast spells

I think the issue is that you're tracking modifiers for spellburn. It's too much work, and leads to the kind of situation you're in now. Except you're supposed to track the modifier for Luck (page 19), so it's implied you track the modifiers for spellburn. And if spellburn didn't lower abilities' m...

Re: So who here uses mini's in their DCC game?

I HATE the randomization of the pre-painted plastics. I feel your pain -- which is why most of what I have from those lines has been from second-hand sources (or from first-hand sources who opened the pack and sold off the commons and uncommons). Okay, so I have very few rares. But when LOTS of the...

Why doesn't she simply spell burn? The player has decided that the character can't allow any of her abilities to fall below 6 less she become overburdened with negative modifiers, and she has already spellburned a lot. If the player had been willing to spellburn down to 3 in all ability scores then...
