Re: Multiclassing in Lankhmar

That would end up being a distinction without a difference. If everyone can cast spells, even if only the PC's and leveled NPC's, then suddenly, everyones a Wizard and it's Forgotten Realms. Because the only reason that anyone would choose not to take free magic is if they actively didn't want their...

Re: Multiclassing in Lankhmar

Maybe. But I wouldn't want that. At least not as an explanation for that instance. It would make the fact that he was a wizards apprentice completely meaningless if everyone can do it. But it is hard to think of a way to do multi-classing well since all the classes are front-loaded (Even the rules i...

Multiclassing in Lankhmar

Do you think DCC Lankhmar will have official rules for multiclassing? I ask because Grey Mouser is pretty much quintessentially a multiclass character (Or dual class from the earlier editions of D&D... Actually, I always felt that rule was created specifically with him in mind). I mean, we could...

Re: module compability

Or just have a luck based healing but give a class a variant of the Halfling lucky charm bonus. To give people luck back. I don't know how they'll actually do it, but I have faith that it will be awesome.

Re: module compability

As far as healing, they could just take the easiest route and just further abstract what hit points represent. Instead of having it be an amount of "cuts and scrapes." have it represent your fighting spirit/stress/fatigue (similar to how it works in Transylvanian Adventures). Then they cou...

Re: Has anyone worked up an Elric setting yet?

Yeah. I get that it's probably still copyright protected (being as it's a pretty young set of works for pulp stories). It would be great to see Goodman get the rights from Moorcock to do an official setting though. As far as conversions, while I could do that, the one thing I really want from a sett...

Has anyone worked up an Elric setting yet?

Hi, Topic mostly says it all (and I know it has probably come up before). I was looking for a write up for an Elric setting for DCC and was surprised that nothing really came up. Anyone know where I could look for one? I know Stormbringer is a tricky thing to do writeups for, as it is a relatively r...

How Different are the 3pp Barbarian classes?

Hi all. I have a question about the different 3pp barbarian classes. Basically, my question is, are they significantly different enough to be worth having multiple versions. I ask because I am looking at picking up D.A.M.N. #1, but the barbarian is the thing I am mostly interested in from it (I have...

Sweet! I've been anxiously awaiting this book since I preordered the DCC core. Glad to hear it's in the final stretch.

Questions about the zero level funnel

I'm working on a DCC campaign and I had a question about the zero level funnel. I can see how it fits with dungeon traps and hazards (characters fall in a pit trap, they basically just die). My question is, for monster combat, wouldn't the strength in numbers effect far outweigh the penalty of being...

Re: Spell duel - Recognize spell to counter

My sense is that spell duels are rare enough as is. I think that if a spell is being cast that you have a counter to you would recognize it immediately and automatically. After all, it is invoking the very powers which you have written upon your mind. Even from a purely rules balance point of view,...

Re: More "crunchy" weapon rules?

If your going to use armor penetration, I'd say its much less a case of "This weapon pierces armor better", and more a case of "This armor protects better against this type of weapon. Each armor should just have a different bonus for Piercing, slashing and bludgeoning weapons. Example...

Re: Class modification

I think I might end up dropping the Elf. A Warrior/Mage class doesn't really fit the theme I'm going for. Losing one class option isn't as bad as losing 3.
Any advice on the Knight class? I'm still having problems working up game mechanics for an ability to replace underground skills.

Re: More "crunchy" weapon rules?

Thanks for the help everybody, some really cools suggestions in here. My players and I are currently leaning towards a variation of what Colin mentioned, but with a couple differences. All one-handed weapons that deal a d8 damage, other than spear, need a little flavor related "bonus" tha...

Re: Mythos patrons

But investigators are not working FOR the old ones. Still, I see most Lovecraftian gods (except ones like Nyarlathotep) being indifferent to mortals, and most priests would simply tap into the powers that surround that god, and hope they don't notice. Hastur, Hastur, Hastur! See? Nothing happ..... ...

Class modification

So, I'm almost ready to start my first DCC game, but the idea I'm going with is more pulpy/horror, very much Conan meets Cthulhu. As such, I'm wanting it to be a Human only setting. I'd prefer to do this without limiting the diversity of class selection much more than it already is (having only 4 cl...

Re: More "crunchy" weapon rules?

Maybe its just that I haven't seen the rules in play yet, but from reading them, I don't see the problem. Warriors already have an initiative bonus to counteract the 2 handed weapon penalty, plus deeds to give even more possible oomph. If you're not a Warrior, you should be slower than everyone else...

Mythos patrons

I'm reading the DCCRPG book and it strikes me as perfect for a very specific type of game, one that I've been rolling around in my head for years. That being Conan meets the Cthulhu Mythos. I haven't finished the book yet so I'm not quite ready to do it myself, but I was wondering if anyone has writ...
