Thanks for the quick help, guys.
I'm inclined to not let the spell be lost, and just let them find out the dire consequences of a "1" on their own. Since this party doesn't have a Cleric, it is kind of amusing to see the healing come at the cost of the Wizard's soul.

Re: Wizard: Heal-bot par excellence?
I see the results for a "1", but is the lost on 2-11 a house rule, or is it in the book somewhere?Raven_Crowking wrote:Treat 2-11 as "Lost. Failure."
See the spell table note for rolls of "1".
Thanks,

Wizard: Heal-bot par excellence?
So, I just started running a DCC RPG game, and one of the PCs is playing a 1st level Wizard. I had her roll spells randomly, then rolled for Mercurial Magic the first time she cast each spell. One of these combinations has created a bit of a problem: Detect Magic with Breath of Life. Breath of life....

Re: Unused Magic Items & Magic Item Shoppes
As to PCs spending their money, I'm a big proponent of the "Conan" rule. Under that system, it is assumed that every time the PCs arrive in a town, they blow their entire stash of gold, gems etc on wine, women, song and other consumables, emerging completely broke. It eliminates tedious a...

Re: Unused Magic Items & Magic Item Shoppes
Anything mid level or higher is never sold (the owner of the store is amassing powerful magics to fuel a spell that will raise Cthulhu but.....what else did you expect in a DCC RPG world? One of these days the party will tip the scales and set in motion a horrid adventure! I'm speechless. That is a...

Unused Magic Items & Magic Item Shoppes
So, in a traditional D&D game, players can sell off found magic items for cash, and then buy the items they want from their friendly, neighbourhood item store. This is really part of the core rules assumption in something like 3.5 or Pathfinder, but I really don't want to use it in my DCCRPG gam...

Ah! That does make more sense at the higher levels, I suppose. 39 adventures to get from 9 to 10 did seem high...

PERFECT!
Thanks! I'm not sure how I missed him (I think I was looking for a stat-block).
He'll work out great, and might keep the body count down a bit...

So, you're saying one adventure takes you from 0th to 1st, two adventures from 1st to 2nd, four from 2nd to 3rd, etc., correct? Give or take?

How many adventures per level?
Roughly how many adventure modules can players expect to go through per level? That is, if I were planning a campaign from 0 to 10th level, how many adventures at each level should I prepare? The players have been through Sailors of the Sunless Sea and are now 1st level (I didn't both with XP during...

Cleric-less Parties: How to keep them alive?
So I just ran my very first session of DCCRPG (Sailors on the Sunless Sea), and the three players managed to make it out with one 0-level each. They decided to level them up into a Warrior, Wizard, and Halfling. I wanted to run People of the Pit next, but how do I keep the party alive without a Cler...

How to run one player?
Basically, what should a GM do to run an adventure for just one player? Thematically, it shouldn't be a problem (many heroes of Appendix N adventure alone), but how to adjust DCCRPG to fit? Originally, I was planning to just run one level one character through a level 0 adventure, but even if they s...
