Re: Player vs Character XP
In the Dragon Age campaign I play (and in my Barrowmaze-campaign too, for that matter) one always creates a 1st-level character. New player joins in? 1st level character. A character dies in the action? 1st level character. Want a change of pace and try another class? Y'know the routine. Death shoul...

Re: Levelling up to level 1: time gap in the storyline?
Hm, we have only played a mini-dungeon as funnel and levelled up the surviving characters... But none of us was concerned with how much time had passed. We all seemed to agree that it is irrelevant.

Mighty Deeds and non-Warriors
The Mighty Deed system is one of the most elegant approach of combat manoeuvres I have seen so far in fantasy role-playing. I have one single problem with it, however, that it does not cover similar attempts made by non-Warriors. What if a member of another class tries to do something similar? Is th...

Re: How do you say Hirot?
Assuming it is an English word, it may sound either /ˈhaiəɹət/ (rhyming to "pirate") or /ˈhɪɹət/ (and also probably /ˈhɪɹɒt/); however, I would definitely go with /ˈhirɔ/ (partly to achieve a Japanese sounding as the spelling strongly suggests it, and partly because of the slightly differe...

Re: mercurial magic
Personally, I would not do that for two reasons. First, that would make spellcasting a somewhat slower procedure (spellcasting roll + mercurial magic roll). Second, it would make use of that table more often, which means that the party members get to know each and every result in less time - that my...

Re: Upcoming rulebooks?
It is only a theoretical problem until two Clerics reach 10th level in the same campaign. Furthermore, diversity lies in class and level in D&D (yes, no matter how much it differs from it on the outside, DCC is just a variation of D&D; an astonishingly good one, nonetheless), plus the player...

Re: 0-Level PCs & Higher Level PCs
If everything goes according to plan, I will be running some DCC during the summer. For that, I have put some thought into that matter and came up with the following: For the first session, each player creates 3-5 0-level characters (the exact number is up to the player) with which they go through t...
