A Jester class. =3
More seriously, I'd love to see a weird, mystical unarmed fighter that isn't the monk.

Re: Mythos patrons
all arcane magic stems from the Great Old Ones. So if you were a wizard in that setting, you'd have to use an Old One as your patron if you wanted one at all That sounds like a really fun campaign. I love the idea of tying good (magic) with bad (Mythos patrons). Really makes players question whethe...

Re: Mythos patrons
In my campaign, The Western Baronies (which is a fantasy-western pastiche), all arcane magic stems from the Great Old Ones. So if you were a wizard in that setting, you'd have to use an Old One as your patron if you wanted one at all. Mortal wizards inevitably believe that they can harness the power...

Re: Class modification
Elves are spellswords, classic fighter-wizards like the Mages of Dessi from the Lone Wolf novels. For the changes to the new-fangled Magus class: *Remove infravision and immunities *Remove vulnerabilities *Increase Hit Dice to d8 *Keep heightened senses (Magi are keen observers of the world around t...

Details about a lot of the gods can be found in the Dungeon Crawl Classics #35 GM's Guide (Gazetteer of the Known Realms).

Re: 0-Level PCs & Higher Level PCs
I'm loath to give away free levels. What's free about those levels? The players already went through the learning curve of getting a character from 0th to whatever-th level, so why punish them for bad rolls or too-difficult encounters? Lemme use some personal examples... I had a friend who always i...

Re: gunpowder weapons
My great complaints about fantasy worlds that decide to introduce firearms are the ideas that firearms: 1) follow the exact same form of development as in the real world; 2) are more powerful than existing weapons; and 3) are ridiculously expensive (usually to "balance out" how much more p...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
No more so than Oriental Adventures, Hamunaptra, or The Glory of Rome made the people writing them racists. ...which they've been accused of. At the very least, Oriental Adventures has drawn a fair amount of criticism for its depictions of "fantasy Asia," particularly over the word "...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
I'm married to a wonderful woman that I've been with for thirteen years now, and we are in turn owned by a pair of cats. Congratulations on the first part, laughed my ass off on the second - you grasped the absolute truth about "cat owners" with a half sentence. :) Thanks! And the cats ha...

Re: Those damned halflings
Have you heard of Plato's theory of the Five Ages of Man? Plato came up with this myth-cycle where the gods had created and destroyed humanity several times before arriving at modern people. The second such effort were basically semi-immortal children who lived ignorant of death and old age, simply ...

Hi! I'm Jeremy, and I'm a freelance RPG author with several credits under my belt, including Faction Folio: The Blackcloak Watch, Ronin (OMNI System and d20), and the upcoming Hellfrost d20 Bestiary. Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
I joined the forums just to post in this thread. As a fan of old Ravenloft (and new Ravenloft for that matter) I'm really liking what I'm seeing from Transylvanian Adventures. As soon as a Kickstarter happens or a sales page appears, expect to have money from me. ^_^
