Re: Musings

We play it almost every week. Check out G+. There is a ton of DCC activity on there.

Once you play DCC, it is hard to go back to anything else. I love the game.

Re: DCC RPG 4th printing: What do you want?

Those three guys are excellent artists and are highly skilled but their action seems forced, if there is any action in their compositions at all. It reminds me of Boris Vallejo versus a Frank Frazetta painting. Vallejo's action scenes look like you propped someone up in that position where Frazetta'...

Re: DCC RPG 4th printing: What do you want?

Man, maybe we will get lucky and the BWS cover will happen. That would be so awesome. AFAIK, he has never drawn anything for a RPG. Maybe I am wrong. He was so popular in the 70s with his work in Conan that I think he would be a natural fit for DCC without being one of the same old artists. I know I...

Re: DCC RPG 4th printing: What do you want?

I would like to see: 1) thumb index or indentions like a dictionary or old Bible with the chapters printed on it. Also, a division between clerical and wizard spells. 2) better index 3) more patrons 4) more monsters 5) a different 0 level adventure 6) Erol Otis, Peter Mullen, Gary Chalk (Lone Wolf),...

Re: So, will the Chained Coffin be a little less high fantas

Go to your library and pick up any of the old Foxfire books. They are all about Applachian folklore. Some of it is true stories, recipes, and how to manuals. Some of it is ghost stories and legends. Pretty interesting stuff.
As far as "Trailer Out of Time," heh, I got a laugh out of that one. The guy on page 372 of the core book would definitely be at that party!
Totally. Muttonchops! I had a vision of Doug Kovac's Hugh riding shotgun in a '77 T-Top Trans-Am playing mailbox baseball with a batt...

Re: tower out of time

Kinda OT, but the first time I read the title "Tower Out Of Time", I misread it as "Trailer Out Of Time". Visions of a white trash-70s-South Park-Heavy Metal-Regular Show-Thundarr mash up floated through my mind until I reread the title. I have to admit I am kinda disappointed. L...

Re: Austin area DCC RPG???

A meet and greet is a great idea! I work a ton and I don't think I get off work until sometime next month. I know I probably jumped the gun on posting about this, but I usually have to plan stuff well in advance in order to get off work. It's a good problem to have nowadays, but it does get tiring. ...

Austin area DCC RPG???

I was wondering if there was a group playing DCC RPG in the Austin, San Marcos, New Braunfels area that would welcome another player? I could also go to the Victoria area. I probably couldn't become a regular, but I would love to play. I currently DM for my stepson, his buddy, and a few friends. I w...

Re: City of Thieves ideas and suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Although I will have to pass on your idea #3, Doug. What I am used to is much closer to Mayberry than Gotham City and I want to keep it that way! :D It looks like I am going to have to get some stuff on Punjar. I'll have to change the name of the city, though. I kno...

City of Thieves ideas and suggestions

I have always wanted to run a campaign in a city similar to the City of Thieves in REH's The Tower of the Elephant. Unfortunately, I have a hard time bringing cities to life and to embody them with their own unique feel. Is there any references for this? I read somewhere that the DCC Punjar was simi...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!

My name is Clint and I started playing in the mid to late 80s. I was fascinated with it ever since seeing the toys and games in the Sears catalog in the early 80s (War duke was awesome). We used to draw "characters" in school alot but never really played. I finally started playing in junio...

Thanks for mentioning Korgoth of Barbaria, Ravenheart. I had never seen that before. It was awesome. With all the total crap on Adult Swim, why didn't they make that a series? It was badass!

Re: Besides Appendix N proper, what inspires your home-setti

First and foremost, REH, but then that is Appendix: N. I get a lot of inspiration from old Marvel comics I read as a kid, especially Savage Sword of Conan. As cheesy as it may sound, I want to really work on a world like Thundarr the Barbarian. Or rather, how I interpreted that as a kid (which was w...

Re: I haven't been this excited about an RPG since 2005.

I haven't played since the days of 2E (1997?). I have a stepson now and since he has an overactive imagination, I thought I would get a RPG to play with him. I could not find anything that I liked. 4E was WAY too freaking complicated, as was Pathfinder. They really didn't appeal to me at all. So I s...

Re: The Kickstarter madness has me thinking about dice

This is a great idea! The poor availability of the dice is THE biggest hangup about this game. The dice need to be conveniently available for the consumer. I would love to see two sets of dice made. One red and blue and one black and gold. I think swapping the colors on the similar ones would be ess...

I agree with the 14 piece dice set. Please have Chessex do it. I am not really feeling the Gamescience dice. I don't mind the funky dice, I just don't like filling in my own numbers and filing off sprues, especially for the high price. And I don't think they are THAT much more random. Too some degre...

Re: Those damned halflings

I have always hated halflings. I never thought they really worked well in a S&S setting. I think I am going to change mine to something akin to REH's Picts with a little fae thrown in for good measure.
