Re: summon / conjure elemental
There's no such core spell. I'd think the spellcheck results for Demon Summoning could be adapted pretty easily. There are also Raise Elemental and Command Elemental spells in the Empire of the East setting book, though the flavor's a bit different.

Re: Let's Talk About Spellburn
Here's a workaround that I think will be good for everyone. CapnZapp, take a Sharpie and cross out all the lines in the rulebook you don't like. Everyone else, play the game as you prefer to play it. Winning.

In my experience, the rules as written do not discourage players from firing into melee.

Re: DCC campaigns without Clerics?
Transylvanian Adventures (a setting without magical healing) has some added rules for hit point recovery: A character recovers 1d4-1 hp immediately after an encounter. A character can take Stamina damage to recover 1d6+level hp. After a good night's rest the character recovers their level in hp, mod...

No additional setting lore, just the usual meaning of pus diviner. Apply the old-school paradigm: take the random thing you've been given and run with it.

Re: OAR2 Isle of Dread revised
The line is intended to present the original content, with a faithful conversion to 5e rules. I only skimmed the latter (I don't play 5e), but I agree with points raised in that review. From what I've heard from folks lately, efforts are underway to pivot towards sensitivity in future products. Thes...

Re: Giants in combat
Giants are are scary! A warrior shouldn't want to get up close with one (unless enlarged ?). Ranged attacks, magic, mighty deeds, good tactics. Smart players might try effects that hamper the giant's attack. The one time I threw a giant at a 4th level party, she fumbled her first attack and was quic...

Re: Default DCC setting?
So, which books for DCC (so, not from the pre-DCC series) can I find some setting info about Aereth in? DCC #35 https://goodman-games.com/store/product/dungeon-crawl-classics-35-gazetteer-of-the-known-realms/ would be the single biggest resource (pre-DCCRPG, adventures therein are 3.5 rules). Many ...

Re: How does a garrote work in consecutive rounds?
I wouldn't allow further backstabs -- the opponent is most definitely aware of the Thief's attack. Starting the next round under grapple rules sounds reasonable. Hmmm, there's the ensnaring (low-damage) garrote in place, but the target's hands are free. So maybe the opponent could either 1) opposed ...

Re: Saving Throws - Goodman Games response?
I might give a situational bonus for a nat 20 save, depending on what's going on. Maybe a Wizard's Will save for an enemy's spell allows them to channel that energy into a spell check bonus. Maybe a Thief's 20 Ref save gives them an insight into the trap and can disarm it with a die bump. Maybe the ...

Re: Enlarge is OP, tell me why not!!!
Every die has a 1 on it. Don't want them using Enlarge all the time? There are lots of places getting big would be a bad idea: rope bridge, narrow ledge on a cliff face, airship, treehouse, regular house, rookery, canoe ... not to mention the low ceilings and narrow passages they might find on a dun...

Re: Patron Bond
I would add (in my interpretation) that a Bond isn't something to be undertaken lightly. It's a considerable investment of resources, and forges a near-permanent link with a much more powerful entity. Trying to update the Bond with a better spell check may be a valid strategy, but should be rarely a...

Re: Ghouls easier to hit?
The -2 at range makes sense, but yeah, the +2 melee is odd. Effectively it's AC 14 ranged or AC 10 melee.
I think it would be more DCC to apply -1d to ranged attacks.

Re: mighty deed disadvantage
1) There are a great many threats that are not enemies swinging a weapon. 2) You could rule that the Disarm attacks the weapon and does not damage the wielder. 3) Why is this a problem? Maybe the repetition is boring for you, but that's what the player likes, and it shouldn't always be the optimal c...

Re: Why are warriors so overpowered?
There are, perhaps, things the party could do other than run up to foes and attack them. Is melee combat the only option in your game? Do they even out more with ranged attacks? A "walking tank" may not be the best at running over rooftops or wading through sewers, either (esp. if they're ...
