Re: Houston, Near Ellington Field

665 views. Zero responses. Not sure how I missed this thread before... but the page views are misleading -- the site is crawled by bots all the time, so page view counts can be highly inflated. It's pretty regular to kill spam posts (which is why everyone's first posts are moderated). So each view ...

Now that the "Empire of the East" setting book is almost complete, I'm guessing the DE kickstarter will be coming up soon. Looking forward to this as I missed out on Lankhmar.

Re: SCARAB 2020

I've run funnels and leveled adventures at Cons, and it's all good.

In an online setting, I find funnels more difficult to run, but I know from Cyclops Con and other online Cons that plenty of people have had plenty of success with them.

Re: In search of VTT style maps for Accursed Heart of the World Ender

Goodman is working through their catalog, issuing VTT resources.

Here's what's out so far and I know there are more on the way:

The Roll20 Marketplace should be seeing some new items, too.

Top of page 96 covers it, though I don't think there is such a thing as "negative scores" for Abilities, just as there's nothing below zero for hp.

Re: Is it OK to run 3rd party modules using DCC ruleset for roadcrew games?

Yep. You can even make up your own material to run for Road Crew games.

Just play DCC, MCC, XCrawl, etc. in an 'anybody can join in' situation, you're running a Road Crew game.

Re: Very basic question about Luck and modifiers

...how does this square up with the rules that states that you cannot regain luck points easily ? If you are at -3 luck modifier, you could be there for a very long time Passages which I'm familiar with aren't stating that Luck is difficult to regain, rather that it is expected to ebb and flow... I...

Re: "Can I roll a perception check?"

"Do they notice the hidden trapdoor, sack of coins, foe, etc.?" This depends largely on what they are telling you they are doing. You've already told them what's obvious, do they take it further and start looking under things? Depending on the circumstances, they don't need to roll -- they find stuf...

You can absolutely get Road Crew swag in advance of your events, as long as you have them documented.

If you've got questions, Brendan's contact info is on the Road Crew page:

Re: Very basic question about Luck and modifiers

I know, for example, they do not track changes in modifiers for tournament play, to stop the game from bogging down. That makes sense, but doesn't mean that's the default across the board for all types of play.

When I played with Judge Brennan in Game Therapy on the DCC stream, the luck modifier did not change as the luck score did. Someone even asked about this in the chat.
Could that have been Brendan's judgement based on running in that context to keep things simple?

Re: Non Thieves being sneaky and determining surprise..

I would use an untrained skill check (d10) unless the Occupation feeds into that (Hunter, for example, and you're in a woods or wherever the Hunter hunted when the Hunter hunted), in which case a d20. to go further, if the Hunter is not in their usual hunting environment, I'd still consider them goo...

Why not just use them? Both games have ascending AC, somewhat comparable HD, etc. I grabbed this set of stats for the Aboleth online: Aboleth Traits Amphibious: The aboleth can breathe air and water. Mucous Cloud: While Underwater, the aboleth is surrounded by transformative mucus. A creature that t...

Re: Is current hardcover 8th printing?

I think the DCC Day "Angry Hugh" variant cover is the first of the 8th Printing out in the wild. There may be 8th Printings of Big Blue (the classic cover) that are out there as well, but that's harder to track. The upcoming Beastman softcover should also have 8th Printing contents. All of the recen...

Re: Fleeting luck, benisons and dooms

Those three elements were developed specifically to emulate the style of Lankhmar and Fafhrd and the Mouser, so the Lankhmar set is where they live.

Maybe some future product will "isolate" them as independent rules, but for now they're just in the box set.

Re: Confusing Treasure...at least for me

You could specify (for yourself) that it only goes through X amount of thickness as if it were cloth. I mean armor is relatively thin (2-3mm?), compared to some shackles I've seen, which could be like 1/4 inch thick or more. It could also just strictly affect armor, since that was the enchantment's ...

If there are no penalty for Mighty Deeds, how do you handle a player that systematically spam a Disarm move at every attack ? Thogard speaks wisdom. My own theoretical solution is this: sometimes spamming an action like that would mean that an intelligent foe can start to see it coming, so I'd rais...
