That's going to be fantastic. Lots of stuff they can do with that.

What did they announce for their new Appendix N license?

Re: Any word on next Reincarnated Adventure (After Isle of D

The G series was also in the Tales from the Yawning Portal reissue. (From 1E, it had the G series, S1 and S2.) They're also reissuing the U series as part of a Ghosts of Saltmarsh book in May. But that leaves a bunch of stone-cold classics still in play, like S3, which would be amazing to get in thi...

Re: Any word on next Reincarnated Adventure (After Isle of D

I'm wondering if the S-series could start showing up. I'm sure Tomb of Horrors would be a good seller, and White Plume Mountain certainly has fans. WotC has already reissued those for 5E. I'm guessing they wouldn't approve of any competition in that regard. (Notice the Reincarnated Adventures don't...

Re: Any word on next Reincarnated Adventure (After Isle of D

Given that: 1) B1 and B2 are definitely the most popular Basic modules (although arguably not the best), 2) They've only done Basic and Expert modules so far (possibly because WotC doesn't want Greyhawk material out there that they didn't publish at this time), 3) Everything past the Expert set is m...

Re: Finally: New DCC releases!

The Master Dungeons are a result of my efforts to focus the DCC line and keep it true to the original vision. DCCs are very specific: They are sword & sorcery crawls. The NPCs all die by the end, there better be some secret doors and death traps, and if a PC doesn't die somewhere it was because...

It's not just stat blocks. 3E is balanced around a smaller number of enemies. 4E assumes there will be a much larger number of enemies in each battle. In addition, there are a number of terrain rules for 4E that would either need to be recreated for 3E (and reprinted every time), or encounters would...

I'm thrilled to hear you guys are on board. I'm looking forward to hearing more details about the free module. How cool that you'll have one of the very first 4E adventures out there, just in time for everyone to start playing! I do hope that, in 2009, you guys consider revising the best of your 3E ...

I take this as good news as I will not be converting to 4.0 until there are some complete 4.0 adventures made available (and I'm not sure I can count on WotC to follow through). 8) Keep on the Shadowfell, from WotC, will actually be released a month before the 4E books are released (with quick star...

I suspect the "encounters balanced around larger groups of monsters" 4E paradigm will make conversion, if not tricky, a matter for deliberation. Throwing a bucket of monsters at characters in an earlier version of the game is a good way to TPK. Hopefully just trimming the multiples out of ...

Chronicle of the Fiend sounds AWESOME

Wow, I never thought I'd be plundering a tournament module for my campaign -- as opposed to punishing my players with one  -- but Chronicle of the Fiend sounds perfect for my Ptolus campaign featuring the much-abused apprentices of an evoker. Since this was the GenCon tournament module, any...

They've always said they're going to be collecting the online content into books on a regular basis. They did this in 3E already -- the Far Corners of the World series was the nucleus around which the environment series of books eventually formed -- but it sounds like it'll be much more formalized g...

I buy in hard copy for archival purposes. I can't rely on PDFs being there in 10 years. (Burnable CDs don't last, unless you take very good care of them, and often not even then.) But I run pbp games, and often post turns from work. So any adventure I'm going to run, I also pick up the PDF. (Yes, I ...

This, and the adventure creation panel generally, would make for a great book. I have a hard time getting all the elements to come together reliably and would definitely pick up Goodman's Guide to Creating Classic Dungeon Crawls, or whatever.

Attacking? So you call voicing your opinion "attacking" over on these boards too? Puhlease! Its just opinion. Go re-read the OP's post. It's almost entirely supposition based on rumor -- and directly contradicts some of the stuff we know -- and it is most certainly an attack on it, unless...

Attacking 4E on dubious "videogame" grounds seems like a strange thing to do at the board of the company that sells Wicked Fantasy modules. And 4E is going to be a big hit. That doesn't mean you have to like it -- I think everyone dislikes a good portion of the top of the music sales chart...

Chronicle of the Fiend and 4E

Historically, it's taken a good amount of time to get the DCC tournament modules all prettied up (and probably cleaned up) for a mass market release. By the time this latest tournament module is ready to go, the closing bell will be ringing for 3E. So what's the plan? Release it as the last great me...

4E versions of the most popular DCCs?

Any chance Goodman can hit the ground running next summer with 4E conversions of their best-selling DCC modules? The public is going to be starved for material for the new edition, and some tried and true classics would be great. Apparently, publishers under the new license will start getting access...
