Re: Adventures in the Singing Hill
Hopefully it finds that sweet spot for you between "dense and interesting" and "frustrating mess!"

Adventures in the Singing Hill
I started work on the adventure I call the Singing Hill years ago, based on a dungeon I made for my home campaign. I got it into a publishable shape, but quit working on it when life events distracted me. After staring at the thing for so long I realized it was blocking me from moving on to new stuf...

Re: Good program to assist adventure writing
I'll second Google docs. You can drop photos into them easily and your work will be available anywhere with internet so you'll be able to print them out anywhere you can find a printer and access to the net.

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?
If you think it's a problem stress that bad things could happen to their sickly wizard should they choose to burn themselves out that much. During that month they're laid out without ability scores, with a max of 1d4+1d4-3 HP, any number of things could take them out. A hungry rat could kill them. T...

Re: Expanded Occupations and Ability-Based Tables
I really like tying occupation into abilities! I know several of my players would appreciate more consistent logic in their occupations, and this really fixes that problem. Me? I enjoy the challenge explaining why my elven sage has crippling intellectual problems. I wrote a custom occupation chart f...

Re: Is DCC RPG OSRIC?
Much closer to Labyrinth Lord. That's what I used to patch holes when we only had the beta, the numbers matched up better. It's got it's own thing going, it's remixing a lot of good systems and ideas, but it's a retroclone insomuch as it's forked off the same branch as all the other OSR systems.

Re: Question about 0-level weapon training
Does their sneakiness really matter in the long run? Wizards still only have d4 hit dice. If they want to jump into the front rank and dance with something it will inevitably tear them in half. Remind them of their mortality, then remind them they can still shoot death beams from their eyes.

Re: Fighter Mighty Deeds
I look again after sleeping and immediately see it includes the attack die in every roll in the example. Sleep is an amazing thing. I'm not sure if I want to make what I thought a house rule or not, I don't really want to stomp on anyone being descriptive in combat.

Re: Fighter Mighty Deeds
Deeds are still a big trade off damage-wise, aren't they? Your attack die isn't added to the damage roll if used for a Deed. Expect maybe I'm confused on that rule, as I can't find it now when I look. Did I invent that?

Re: Dead Characters
I lost two PCs in the last session, and a new player joining the next, so I've decided to give the players some options. They can either roll a herd of peasants, balancing the risk of low stat rolls with numbers, but being more or less ablative armor for the rest of the party, or they can roll a lev...

Re: The Next Point of Business
I'd love to see a patron book. It's one of the most unique parts of the DCC ruleset to me, so having more options to include, or reskin, or riff off of, would be awesome! Adventures too, but those are obviously going to be trickling out at a pretty consistent pace anyway.

Re: Blogs about DCC RPG
I've been running a DCC campaign for several months, started up not of after the demo first hit. I've been detailing new monsters and subsystems I've implemented in my game, as well a campaign log. I'm just starting to switch everything over the full rules, it's a fun process. http://carapaceking.bl...

Loot=XP
I've been using Holmes/Cyclopedia D&D to fill some crunch in my campaign, is anyone using the rule that 1 gold counts as 1 xp taken out of a dungeon? I've started using that, as xp levels are so low in that ruleset, and the group meets infrequently. It's evocative for the kind of low-powered thi...
