Re: Best foot forward
Obviously I'm biased towards Attack of the Frawgs (having written it), but I would encourage you to look at Doom of the Savage Kings now that it's available. I know it's technically a 1-st level adventure but the writing for that adventure is superb. And don't forget the adventures from Purple Sorce...

Re: Do we really need clerics and magic healing?
I actually like the idea of recognizable Gods & Demons in my campaign, and clerics (and chaotic cultists) can play a lot into this. I've created 2 new pantheons (think greek gods and hawaiin gods) that play heavily into the action of the writing. Now mind you, the action of the writing vs. the a...

Re: Thick Skull Adventures
Update: I've finished the writing on my next DCC adventure Haunting of Larvik Island . I'm pleased with how some of the new areas have turned out. I start playtesting with my internal players next week and I'll be hitting up a couple people on the boards who have offerred to playtest as well as send...

Congratulations! I expect to read all about what you're going to wear to the awards ceremony. Seriously though, well deserved. DCC is a great game.

All,
Thanks to everyone who responded. Even if the mod wasn't to your taste it's still helpful to me to learn what folks are looking for expecting. I'll write up a longer "lessons learned" blog later on but wanted to thank everyone for their feedback.

Why did you buy (or not buy) Attack of the Frawgs?
Hello folks, As I continue to grind out the new upcoming Haunting of Larvik Island , I ponder some of the elements I may or may not include in it and wonder what lessons I can learn now that DCCRPG is approaching it's birthday. I thought I would take this opportunity to do a little marketing researc...

Re: Larger modules to come?
I like the shorter modules best. I have enough trouble running the existing catalog in 3, sometimes 4 sessions. I also have two story ideas which I think, with judicious editing, I could cram into 1K stories which I would like to submit into an issue of Rev. Dak's Crawl , but I haven't started writ...

Re: Larger modules to come?
My current DCC remaster project of The Haunting of Larvik Island is at about 14K words (most of the 24 page mods are about 10K words.) It's currently at 24 pages and that's without me adding the art, maps and license back in. I've also reached out to the original artist to commission a couple more P...

Re: Appendix N type movies.
I know it doesn't technically qualify as a movie, but I feel HBO's Game of Thrones clearly fits the bill. Complex characters, some dark magic at work, loose morals, I would imagine that Mr. Gygax would happily of included George RR Martin's novels in his list.

Re: Allowing level-up during funnel adventure?
Well, after all that, 2 of the 4 players had to bail this weekend. So I got Attack of the Frawgs real quick-like, and played that with the remaining 2 players--it looked shorter and more amenable to having fewer players. It worked fine, but there was clearly no opportunity for a level-up in the mid...

Reprinted from my blog here Hello there, So, I wanted to give you guys an update as to where things were in the world of Thick Skull Adventures. 2012 was a good year in terms of gaming in that we were able to release Attack of the Frawgs and it has sold better than I'd ever expected. Re: Thick Skull Adventures
Have you considered offering your modules via RPGNow's/DTRPG's POD service? It'd make them a lot easier for folks not in the US to get copies that way. P&P from the USA is a killer at the moment whereas the POD service has branches in the UK, for example. Colin, you know, to be honest I haven't...

[Note: a version of this article complete with pretty pictures of photos I took at the event is over at my blog , but I thought I'd get more eyeballs by also posting here!] Over the Labor Day weekend here in the US, I went to my first gaming convention: the conveniently located Pacificon Game Expo w...

Re: So who here uses mini's in their DCC game?
I play with mini using a battlemat & pens similar to what you showed in the pictures. Again, jst to help the player's visualize a cavern size & what not, and to give a ...waves hand at battlemat vaguely... sense of positioning and range in combat. The very tactical nature of 4E made it feel ...

FWIW, I had a guy in the UK asking me for hardcopy of "Attack of the Frawgs" and my distributor said if I had any outside-the-US customers looking for my mod to pass along the name of the local FLGS the customer is at and he would try to setup an account with them. Send me a direct message...

Ah, friends, thanks for the encouragement. I've been waylaid over here with some Real Life issues that I won't get into too much detail here (but they rhyme with "divorce" and "moving") which have put my home office into storage probably until early to mid October. I will do my b...

Hey all, I too had a great time playing in both sessions this weekend with Joseph behind the screens! We played Him That No Grave Can Keep on Saturday and The 13th Skull on Sunday. Saturday was fun as we ran the PC's through the funnel and it was great to see the ideas for people's occupations and e...
