Actually wizards typically gain spells through discovery (pg. 315 see table 7-1 Where is spell knowledge found?). The benefit of a Patron is that is the only way to obtain the Patron spells and and such which can be nice.

Don't have things right in front of me, but the first thing that comes to mind is I recall Wizards have a higher max spells than the Elf.

This makes me happy to hear because my group of veteran players did exactly the same as yours. They didn't want to get close to the well and did not want to touch the chapel because of the text and barring and missed the courtyard stuff as well. I was like dang all of that stuff would have so helped...

I am not sure if it is a type-o on page 6 under the Cult Leader writeup you list spells cause fear, mirror image. But under you list the writeups for command and mirror image. I assume that the Cult Leader block should list the spells command and mirror image. (although I could be totally loopy :)) ...

Look at page 96 of the book under Recovering armor. It talks about finding armor and Demi humans. I would just do the roll at the time they recover it but that is just me .
