Small Rules Clarification
Hello there, new to MCC and recently started an online game. So far we're excited! Super fun game. We're almost done with the Rite of Passage and we have a human that unfortunately had to burn his Luck all the way down to 2. Now I'm wondering if that is the character's base Luck, or if Darwinian Luc...

Re: Frozen in Time = Fantastic sci-fi fun!
Sounds great, thanks!
I just saw that Purple Sorcerer even has an option for Frozen in Time characters. Brilliant!
One more question: Did you change anything to the encounters for the funnel or leave it as it is?

Re: Frozen in Time = Fantastic sci-fi fun!
Would this be playable as a lvl 0 funnel in about 4-5 hours of play? I'm in need of a funnel for tomorrows session and consider getting this.

Re: 7-day rpg contest
Can't believe I completely missed your message - thousand thanks for writing about your play session and for your kind words about the game! To my knowledge yours must have been the first test run of the game. The first time I got to run it was three days ago during a camping trip with my brother an...

7-day rpg contest
Heya, does anyone else here take part in ENworld's 7-day rpg contest? My entry is "Follow the Leader" and somewhat in the spirit of a DCC funnel in that you play meager henchmen that have to survive the dungeon in the shadow of their "Heroic Leader". The characters must overcome ...

Never really came to me that you could play DCC without using the mercurial effects. Absolutely adore them.

Re: Searching the Room
This has spillover effects to every part of the game, from Mighty Deeds to spellcasting to just regular ol' arrpee. The whole thrust of the game is to focus on the specific, instead of general mechanics. I read something about Dave Arneson playing some pre-D&D spy game once and if you search fo...

Searching the Room
When one or more character search a room, how do you play this out? The DCC Core Rules have the following to say: "Skill checks are designed for use when a system of abstract rules is necessary to adjudicate a situation. Only make a skill check when practical descriptions by the players will no...

Blogs about DCC?
I guess the title says it all. I've just recently started reading blogs and now I'm looking for some that are exclusively about DCC or regularly talk about the game. Thanks!

Re: Question about spellcasting
You have to look up in the spell results under the "1" entry. Most spells require a die roll that determines the exact fumble result. For Flaming Hands the fumble result is: "Lost, failure, and worse! Roll 1d6 modified by Luck: (0 or less) corruption + patron taint + misfire; (1-2) co...

Re: All six issues of Crawl for $12.60.
Wow, that's amazing. I've completely missed out on Crawl but would like to order them all in one shipment now. Does anyone know if it's possible to order the entire back catalogue? Or do I have to order each issue individually?

XP Average ?
Just interested to know what the XP average is in your campaigns. I calculated the XP I gave out for the last 11 sessions and came out with 4.54 XP per character per session on average, slightly less than I had expected.

Re: Some more rules questions
Yeah, and even if they do roll a one, they could just burn a luck point to avoid the corruption, yes? Actually, no. A natural 1 is always a failure. As it is with attacks and saving throws. And natural 20s are always successes with attacks & saving throws (and obviously with spell checks). I th...

Ah, that does make sense. So it's more of a security measure against the permanent ability loss and possible corruption.TheNobleDrake wrote: Burning 20 does not result in a 5% chance to roll a natural 1 and have something unplanned happen despite your spellburn, whereas burning 19 does.

Re: Some more rules questions
When reading through the book again today, I came up with some more questions that I remembered came up during our sessions. Again I'd be very interested how you would rule in these cases. 5. Concerning Grappling - When a creature is pinned, do you rule that it can do nothing besides trying to free ...

Re: Time for a new tag-line?
I have to agree with you, Machpants! Time for a change. The "you're no hero" seems to describe the basic idea of the game, but not so much of the modules, I think. It would still be a better fit. The other thing I would personally change is to make the gold on black cover of the first Limi...

Re: Some more rules questions
Thanks a lot for all of your insights! Great help yet again. Smathis, I really like your idea that when the characters fail they have to try to overcome the obstacle with other means! I will give this a try, let's hope my players won't rebel against it. I'm ok with ruling some things like the breaki...

Some more rules questions
Here are some questions that arose during our regular campaign. As always, thanks for your insights! 1. Can the Halfling burn his Luck on the Wizard’s spell check? Seems like it to me, but wouldn’t that be much too powerful? 2. How is the Cleric supposed to reach the higher spell results? 3. If mult...

Re: Allowing level-up during funnel adventure?
I don't allow leveling during the funnel as I find that for some classes it's not realistic enough for my tastes, especially the wizard and cleric. I allowed it once but found that it emphasizes the comedic aspect of the funnel, with average Joe suddenly being able to cast multiple spells. Leveling ...

Re: DCC World Tour... in Europe?
Shipping to Europe is very expensive. Even for small items. And sometimes quite slow and unpredictable, even for small shipments. The only way I can imagine a Europe World Tour support program working is if the Road Crew folks paid for shipping (which I don't want...not really fair to charge them) ...
