Re: More interested in the DCC release in April than D&DN

.... d20pfsrd.org I think is the URL. And even if you do stick with 3.5 (while waiting for DCCRPG of course), the pfsrd stuff is compatible. Thanx for the info, but at the time I was making that decision there was still a much larger pool of 3.5 players, that's why I held my nose (metaphorically sp...

Re: More interested in the DCC release in April than D&DN

Stubborn was a strong word, I really meant silly . I mean this mostly because the play-test will be FREE . @tortog. But I totally understand where you're coming from. I would share my terrible experience with 4.0, with both players and WotC, but I don't think it's worth re-living. 3x was "too ...

Re: More interested in the DCC release in April than D&DN

Well, if you have money falling out of your pockets and nothing else to spend it on... sure, buy every version. I wish people luck with D&Dn, and hope you all have shelf space for the soon to be published D&D 6e. I remember when WotC bought TSR. They made promises then about how they weren't...

Re: How are people making NPC Magic Users?

@meinvt> If you wanna see them in action then stay tuned to my game thread, because one of the NPC wizards is on the same level of dungeon as the players... I have no idea when (or if) they will interact with it, but it should be interesting if they do. --- The main point I was trying to make is tha...

Re: More interested in the DCC release in April than D&DN

It's the business model that WotC uses that keeps me from becoming interested and returning to official D&D. I hate planned obsolescence. They talk today about no longer having editions and updates. Not sure how they will handle that as a corporate entity, but the current designers are saying t...

Re: How are people making NPC Magic Users?

I'd like to take a moment to argue for 'more detail is better' idea. I take the time to write up full stat blocks for all NPC's and monsters, because you never WTF the players are going to do. The few times where I've gotten lazy and tried to just write down what I think is most likely to be used......

Re: DCC Beta Campaign test: Portland, OR

Game clock resumes at 02/18/3200; 7:00:03am…everyone rolls initiative. {My critters never rolled higher than 8 for initiative all evening… truly embarrassing… Fortunately two of my players were breaking in new sets of dice because they forgot to bring their dice from home, so they weren’t rolling so...

Re: DCC Beta Campaign test: Portland, OR

WE'RE BAAAAACK! I've spoken with the game shop and the players and the quest resumes on 1/28/12. We'll be posting soon after, but I thought I'd let everyone know that one of the players has filed a Request for character elimination form, quantity 1 XXXXXXX ; request is for an ironic death. Stay tune...

@ Finarvyn> DUDE! Its all your fault!  After your last post I was inspired... so I got to thinking. Now the Creature Catalog has two mutation tables. #30 on table 1 now reads: " Roll once on the advanced mutation table. " While I was writing the first table I came up with 8-...

Re: Copyright issues?

Well, it's a bit more complex than that, isn't it? I mean, China's IP "theft" centers mostly around computer software and DVDs. That's different from, say, someone taking IP that's solidly in the public domain and then "re-IPing" in an almost retroactive fashion. Think of it lik...

@ finarvyn> Moving the tread... Fine by me. I should say that I'm not a lawyer either, but I did some more research yesterday though I didn't get a chance to post. I discovered that until this Supreme Court decision, as far as copyright is concerned: a) books are governed by the copyright laws in pl...

Copyright issues?

Hey everyone, I know the boards here are "gaming" and "DCCRPG" related, but I was reading the papers the evening while having my 'morning' tea and I came across an article that I think we should all be aware of as I think it might cause a bit of grief for us all. If I'm wrong the...

So... Assuming my last post didn't chase anyone off, I thought I'd start the new year off by saying that the version of the final manuscript for the core rules is fantastic. Re: Just had a wacky idea about "Luck"

It's probably way too late for this, but a thought popped into my head and I thought I'd share it here. One thing that frustrates me about Luck is the fact that you burn it up and it's gone. In a life-or-death situation burning Luck is a worthwhile expenditure of resources, but for a simple +1 on a...

Any thoughts about dumping all of your stuff into a single Word file or PDF so we can access it without having to follow the links? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this last part? Re: DCC Beta Campaign test: Portland, OR

1. Keep in mind that Leiber intended these stories to be a bit of a parody of some of the early Swords & Sorcery stories like Conan. That may be what annoys you about them. I didn't know this, and that does indeed cast the work in a different light. I must confess; it's not that I have a proble...

hey caveman, My game world has an extensive history worked out for both Mountain Dwarves and and Hill Dwarves and why they hate each other, but I've avoided doing any real work on them as 'races' or 'classes'. I like your version of the Dwarves. I don't mind the 'whirling dervish' so much, so I'd pr...

Re: Greetings and welcome to the 3PP support forum

Ok... I'll go first. :D I'm quite keen on 3PP work for the DCC setting, but I have no real idea what is involved in the process. I noticed in the opening post refers to publishers. So I guess my first question is: is the 3PP offered only to those with established track record as a publisher? The lab...
