Re: Creature Catalog

Thanx RC, I have a green light as far as I know... Mr. G has seen an earlier version wrought with distressing grammar and an embarrassing degree of typos and while I don't like to quote other folks emails without their permission I think I can safely paraphrase his position having a lot of positive ...

Well, I've Always believed that one critic is worth any number of yes men or sycophants, so thanx for the input. :) I've been trying to come up with a good way of explaining my position... here is the best that I've come up with: I consider myself to be a storyteller, which in my mind is different t...

Re: Creature Catalog

Just thought I'd share some of the art that will be in the CCD! These are gnomes in their natural environment... a lab. :D I'll never forgive Hickmann and Weiss for turning gnomes into the comical creatures of 'Tinker Gnomes' so the CCD puts them in charge of steam and clockwork gear that actually f...

Re: Creature Catalog

What's your expected street date? The most accurate answer I can give is: as soon as the art is done... We started with all the largest art blocks and then will be moving on to the smaller ones. So the pace will increase as we get further along the process. :) I'm hoping to have it out by mid to la...

Hey,i would like a print version too. Well, I'm a die hard tree hugger, so I'll definitely be emphasizing the digital version; especially since it is bookmarked and easy to print from. But there will be both print and digital versions of Critters, Creatures & Denizens. Tnanx for your interest! ...

Re: Curious about the DCC RPG crowd...

First played in early '80's with cousins during summer visits, I was 8yo, but I didn't start running games until after I saved up my allowance to buy the Red Box edition when I was 10. Most of the serious gaming for my friends and I was done with 1st and 2nd editions.

Re: More "crunchy" weapon rules?

I think providing access to Might Deeds to all classes could be an interesting idea... I wouldn't personally use such a rule without giving every class access to every ability at some capacity at a particular level benchmark - I believe too strongly in class niche protection above sense, and am an ...

Re: More "crunchy" weapon rules?

When I posted I was tired and and forgot to include that I feel that all characters should be given access to M.D.o.A starting at 5th level. I realize that this does not qualify under smathis' lite- touch meme. I also realize how unpopular this idea will be for a lot of folks {at least it has been s...

Re: More "crunchy" weapon rules?

Thanks for the help everybody, some really cools suggestions in here. My players and I are currently leaning towards a variation of what Colin mentioned, but with a couple differences. All one-handed weapons that deal a d8 damage, other than spear, need a little flavor related "bonus" tha...

Re: Wizards taking over

I like the -1d on casting checks idea because I feel there should be some kind of repercussions from the fact that this character is trying to re-order the laws of the physical world with nothing more than odd geometry, strange ingredients, and pure willpower; while something is trying to eat their ...

Re: The roll under Luck Check. . .

It's a common "old-school" house rule to roll a d20, and roll your ability score or less. It makes for a really quick and dirty ability check. Joseph uses this himself. It works really well when you're "testing" straight ability scores, and you don't want to factor "skills&...

As luck would have it, the 16th is one of our regular game days, so I already have table space for 4 hours at Guardian Games in Portland, OR. The dice start rolling at 5pm and we have 5 of 8 seats available. :D

... Also, I totally consider this a game standing upon the shoulders of D&D. Part of the point is for it to be compatible after all. As Goodman often says, whatever your DM says at your table is official enough for DCC! +d30 just once or every day? Whatever you and your players agree is best! :...

Re: How do you handle large groups in 5' wide hallways?

I'm planning to run a trial DCC game and using the module in the core rulebook. I noticed there were hallways only 5' wide. How do I organize such a tight fit? Will the PC's just line up shoulder to shoulder 3 wide and 5 deep , so that those in front can shield and allow those in back to survive? C...

Keen! Random thought #1: Something that occurred to me while I was looking over the list; some of them seem like they might fit on multiple lists. Re: Long-Term DCC Play

I think DCC is just fine for long term play. It required some adjustments for my setting, but nothing major. We found that the number of critters needed to challenge the wizard would have overwhelmed the rest of the party, so I have enacted some tweaks to tone down the magic a bit for long term play...

What alignment would gods like Thor or Asmodeus be? With a 9 alignment system, they might be CG & LE, but how would they be classified in the DCC 3 alignment system. Thanks. Well, IMO: per the AD&D Monster Manual 1, Asmodeus= arch-devil= LE= L in DCC rule set (fits with the hierarchical str...
