Shorter adventures (Less than 4 hours)

What DCC adventures can be run in 2-3 hours for a convention slot? It's been many years since I ran Portal Under the Stars, I think that's one.

What about others? I'm happy to consider 3PP stuff as well as Goodman Games published.

Re: Secret door base detection rules?

Depending on the situation, the Judge and the group, a Luck check can be appropriate too. You could apply the Elf mod as a minus for a Luck check if desired.

DCC for MInneapolis

Running a new campaign in MInneapolis, straight-up DCC with some bits of Lankhmar (Dooms, Benisons, Fleeting Luck), sort of a city-crawl, sort of a mega-dungeon, depending on who shows up and what they want to do. Aiming to play at least a couple times a month if I can work it out, generally on week...

Re: Need rules for mass combat...using DCC characters

Hi all, I'm resurrecting this thread hoping that maybe those who posted earlier reached more final forms in the ideas they presented earlier. My group is heading toward a village defense, so a mass system would be great :) For quick and dirty, I'll throw out the following system. Keep it as simple ...

Softcover printing for retailer

I am running some DCC at my FLGS and my buddy and retailer owner asked me if I could see about getting some softcover Fourth printing "bridge copies" into the store to sell. I am a fourth printing backer and he is not. Is this weird/ unethical /frowned upon, grinned upon, etc?

DCC Experimentation in Minneapolis... 12/26-27

Playtesting a new idea for DCC setting/rules this weekend (Saturday or Sunday).. yes... it's sort of the AntiChristmas. which makes me.. well, anyway.

If you are local to Minneapolis, home of Dave Arneson (almost), and interested in dropping some funky dice, please drop me a line.

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death

... I don't know which camp your players fall into, but it's kind of a pity if they never get to experience that old style of game and find enjoyment in it. That's not to say that a judge should unfairly chew players up and spit them out (superior play should provide a pathway for success) but for ...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death

Personally, I remember (with fondness) the meat-grinder approach in early D&D and AD&D 1st edition, where death was common. The fact that players get any chance at all to cheat death in DCC RPG; with a chance that is maybe hovering around 50% (assuming an average Luck roll of 9 or 10) seems pretty ...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death

This method would allow one to postpone suffering the effects of burnt luck until the new step (5). I.e. you burn you luck, your luck score remains temporarily unaffected, and only after having benefitted from this burnt luck does the point burn actually kick in. The first method doesn't make much ...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death

I run recover the body rolls as an unmodified roll against current Luck at time of death. So if you burned yourself down to a current Luck of 3, then you gotta roll 3 or less on a D20 to be recovered. My players love it as it makes them choose how brave or cowardly they run their guys. Also my play...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death

The way I have understood it and applied it is: Taking the same example you give above, the bonus subtracts from your die roll, just as you say. Thus a character with a Luck score of 10, can roll even up to a 16, and his "bonus" will subtract 6 from his roll (16-6 = 10) so that his modified roll is...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death

Here's the text for "Luck Check" on p. 19 Characters can make Luck checks to attempt feats that succeed based on Luck alone. The judge will provide the specifics of any attempt, but the attempt is usually resolved by rolling equal to or less than the character’s Luck score on 1d20. Let's say you ha...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death

Hello all, Been running my DCC game since December and on Session 13, coming up. Having a great time. One situation has arisen that gives me pause. As we all know, Luck can be burned to give a character a chance to alter a life-or-death roll. I assume this would include the "roll-the-body" over luc...

Re: Minneapolis / Twin Cities (Minnesota) DCC Game?

Hi all, I've run multiple DCC RPG sessions this year and I'd like to GM a game in late November (for starters) I generally run on weekends to ensure we have enough time (4-5 hours) for a good session. I live in Uptown Minneapolis and have a few players already but would love to pick up some guys spe...
