Re: RAW
The rules of DCC RPG are neither rigid nor hard so I don't understand why people worry about them much. I use them as guidelines, when they don't fit the situation I make sh*t up instead.

Re: Darkest Dungeon has DCCRPG's soul!
IMO it's closer to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It's more of a low/dark fantasy than sword & sorcery, even the occupations are closer to renaissance era.

Much better. Heck if you could make the two columns symmetric they could be two sides of a card.

Re: Character Sheets for Magic Weapons
Good idea, but you waste a lot of space for short values and lables. Plus & Type, Intelligence, Alignment can be easily put in a single row.

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea question
Nope. It's the staircase, just add it to the description. They can try also climb down through the rift, but that counts as mass suicide. There supposed to be a way through the tomb too, but you'll have to look up the debate about how that works (and if it was fixed in later printings).

Why does it has to be official? DCCRPG is all about DIY and community. Check out Crawl #8, it has guns. I'm pretty sure Crawljammer has laser guns too.

Only if the casting roll is below 20. As you can see results above 20 lack the "as long as it remains in the pentacle" part.

Re: Leveling up during or after Sailors?
Don't go soft on them. This adventure was built for zeroes. I've ran it three time,s and all groups succeeded with at least half the adventurers surviving. Casualties can be replaced too mid-adventure when they release the prisoners. Also, what's the point in running a funnel adventure if you only r...

Re: Critical Tables question
What you are missing are a few more levels. On higher levels you roll with bigger and more dice on the critical table. On some levels even the crit table used changes. Just check out the section about your character class to see what table and die you have to use during a crit - eg. a level 6 warrio...

Re: Blasphemy! Separating Race and Class
I gave each race a few bonus abilities and some penalties, eg. dwarves had infravision, the underground skills of the dwarf class, plus slow movement speed. Each race had its own zero level profession chart too. Characters could increase a single attribute every third level. The human racial bonus w...

Re: Demihumans in S&S
I have to mention RuneQuest's Glorantha here. There are still people out there who are stuck at the "omg it haz duckz!" mentality, but the game has some really unique and cool twist on traditional races, like elves, dwarves, and trolls.

Re: Demihumans in S&S
Elves and Dwarves (especially if based on the nordic version) do have a place in sword & sorcery. Just ask Moorcock and Poul Anderson. Sword and sorcery is more than just Howard and the rest of the "antediluvian barbarian fiction" writers.

Re: Hidden things
Oh, DSA. I once played using 3rd edition rules I think. The skill checks and the magic system were interesting. Back on topic... What I do depends on how specific the players are. "I search the body." - I roll if they find it or not. "I search the boots." - They find it automatic...

I let my clerics turn unholy creatures and influence whatever fits his god's powers. For example a druid won't turn or destroy animals, but calm them down or command them, depending on the roll.

Yeah, the dice chain is very DCC, and seems pretty much underused compared to how much love it deserves.Skars wrote:*Pump* up the dice chain each helper (when applicable, or limit how man helpers due to circumstances).

Why not? I let them go above 20 too. But burning down to 1 is like signing your death certificate. Yeah, you might survive something, but very bad things are going to start happening with you.jinxology wrote:Can I burn luck down to 1? Or is the minimum luck score 3?

In my Terminus campaign I had 30+ races, each with their own profession charts, and I had elite specializations for the four core classes. You are not alone. DCC RPG is a great toolkit.

Limited edition gold foil DCC demon-skull logo cover!!! Why? Because I cant find one of these anywhere. I might actually find the holy grail before I find one of these. That's the point of the limited edition. But I would be happy to see the demon-skull logo cover too. How about doing it in silver ...

A box set would be better for Kickstarter. While some people love them and are willing to pay a lot for them, it's a bit risky because of the extra cost.
