So....start saving your money and squirreling away all you can. Because once #100 hits, the logjam will be diminished and all hell will break loose.

Re: Thief backstab

"If his deed die comes up as a 3 or better..." To me, this is a specific reference to the result on the die. This, to me, translates to an unmodified result. So in order for a deed to succeed, the unmodified roll must be a 3 or higher. The Warrior's Deed Die is a component of the Warrior's...

The best place to look is page 260, the Detect Magic spell.

Re: Enlarge is OP, tell me why not!!!

I’ve been running the same DCC campaign for a year straight and while I love spirit of the rules and a lot of the innovation I have to agree with the original post. The rules lack balance and a few things like enlarge really throw things out of whack. At 3rd and 4th level. It’s not uncommon for the...

Re: Spellcasting services

For me, magic is not something that's traded on the Dow Jones. It's spooky and deadly and most people are afraid of it.... So IF the party is going to seek out a caster for some kind of aid, something that's beyond their own resources, that's a sub-plot or almost a side-campaign in itself to even f...

Re: In the case of a God being also a Patron...

I would allow it - with modifications applied as appropriate for the specific situation (just making a rough estimate of power and such). But then, I made custom spells for the two Clerics in our group. They had access to certain ones from the book (that made sense), and then added ones that were mo...

Re: Number of Turn Unholy Attempts in a Combat

I would personally count a failure towards disapproval, as the cleric is making a spell check, but otherwise I would agree. It is actually RAW! From Page 30 (7th Printing) of the Core Rule book: Turn unholy: A cleric wields his holy symbol to turn away abominations. At any time, a cleric may utiliz...

Re: Restoring STA Points -- Potions? Spells?

An NPC caster (or monster) has the ability to do this, but wants something from you first. Eating the liver of a particular monster can restore 1d3 points of lost Stamina. Bonding yourself (via patron bond) to a particular being restores your health, it is said. A servant of that patron dwells in a...

Thought I would chime in on this one & throw in my 2 coppers. From the DCCRPG core book under ghouls: “Ghouls do not make any noise whatsoever. They are un- dead, and thus can be turned by clerics. They do not eat, drink, or breathe, and are immune to critical hits, disease, and poison. As un-d...

Re: Color Spray spell keeps winning battles

As a 3rd level wizard with an intelligence of 13, he only needs to roll an 8 to blind the target if it fails a save, and a 14 to knock it unconscious if it fails 2 saves. Since the target has to make a save with a DC equal to the spell roll, the blinding save is at least a 20, which is tough to mak...

Re: Very basic question about Luck and modifiers

So if you have to recalculate the Luck modifier at every loss of Luck points, how does this square up with the rules that states that you cannot regain luck points easily ? If you are at -3 luck modifier, you could be there for a very long time Yes...yes you could. But there are tons of opportuniti...

Using Table 7-9 ... I consider all awards from the first entry to be "restorative", i.e. they can only bring you back up to your "normal" Luck score. No permanent increase is allowed, so 18 is the maximum and any awards that would push you over that number are ignored. I conside...

One of the genius moves of deed die is that it doubles as the BAB from the old d20 system AND the determination threshold of the mighty deed.

There might be some confusion here. The higher result is more powerful refers to the spell check - not any of the table used to generate a familiar. A wizard can summon a familiar with the spell find familiar. The resulting familiar is determined by his spell check and alignment. The higher the spel...

Re: Mighty Deeds for Monster

What characters can do is different than what monsters can do. It's one of the main shifts away from the d20 standard approach of the early 2000's that DCC embraces (and I personally love). Having said that, take a look at examples in modules and in the monsters and how they handle any special attac...
