Good to see Farmer getting some love, Joseph: he's one of my favorite writers in Appendix N :D

Re: Further comments on Points of Light II

Sounds interesting, Rob: I flipped through POL1 on my previous visit to Kansas City, so I'll have to keep an eye out for this one too.

Re: Cat Lord legal status.

IIRC Cat Lord appears in the Tome of Horrors 1, from Necromancer Games, so you should be able to use him as a 3.x/d20/OGL monster no problem.

Re: Greyhawk locations...

Since first seeing the module, I've planned to use The Forest of Lanterns as a sub-level in my version of Castle Greyhawk. I haven't given a lot of thought yet as to other locations (since I own few DCCs, and the ones I do tacojohn is likely going to run sometime). That said, I've really liked what ...

Re: Memorial AD&D event at GenCon - looking for writers and DMs!

An update from Keith Baker: We are still looking for writers and DMs to participate in the Tower of Gygax memorial event. With DMs, we are looking for people to cover late night or early morning shifts throughout the convention, or any time on Sunday. With rooms, the submission deadline for a room i...

Memorial AD&D event at GenCon - looking for writers and DMs!

From an industry list I'm on: Hey all! There are going to be a number of events at GenCon this year that honor the memory of Gary Gygax. One of these is going to be an ongoing AD&D game, run continuously throughout the convention. The basic concept is "The Tower of Gygax" - a constantl...

It was great to you meet you, Harley, and Joseph too, and to see Erol again :D Hopefully next time we'll get to hang out for a bit longer than 5 minutes at the booth---and, dare we say it, do some delving in a Castle (WR, GH, whatever! :D )!

I had the pleasure of playing the GG Free RPG Day scenario today with tacojohn and Mark (one of the other regulars in our AD&D game), and it was quite run. I definitely enjoyed the verticality of the dungeon. We got about 1/2 way through, per tacojohn, though I don't know when, offhand, we'll be...

There's a long tradition of mixing Lovecraft's mythos monsters into D&D; see the thread @ DF @ http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21120 for some thoughts/history.

The original, colored-endpapers versions of the DMG, PHB, and MM were in fact of even sturdier construction than the later 3rd revised DMG, 6th printing PHB, "4th" MM, etc. You could use those bindings to disarm swordsmen without fearing harm to your books :D

I've played in groups that have ranged in size from 2 other players (+1 DM), to much larger. The largest groups I've played in have had about 10, 14, and 20 regular players, respectively: when I was playing in grade school, we would host sleepovers and play into the night (usually about 10 folks, ru...
