Re: Mighty Deeds of Arms
Please, please, PLEASE drop the Mighty Deeds of Arms rules from the judge's section! Instead of hard rules, leave the Mighty Deeds nice and freeform as they currently read in the Fighter section. Maybe add in some advice on how to tell when a player-proposed Mighty Deed goes too far and what to do ...

Re: Demi-human classes...
FWIW, I think it would be a good idea to spell out the original intent, as it's obviously confusing people. Providing a clear baseline is vital for a good rulebook. GMs can always change rules once they understand them as-written. Ergo, my vote would be to clearly state that: 1. If you roll an Elf,...

Re: Designer's Blog #3: What Do You Mean, "Vancian"?
And just for kicks, this is what I mean by "badass art." Did you know that Emirikol the Chaotic's infamous rampage was thwarted mere seconds after it begun by Lokerimon the Lawful? Emirikol was hosed anyway as he was riding towards a castle courtyard. But it is good that Lokerimon got him...

Re: The Future of Points of Light
Thanks for the shout out, Joseph. Demiurge, I been focusing on the Majestic Wilderlands but I am releasing Blackmarsh which is similar to the other Points of Light settings and designed to work with Southland. (It border to the north of Southland). You can read about it on my blog here. http://batin...

Spell Cards and Handouts at Garycon
I just read a report by Jeff Rients about playing the DCC RPG. (http://jrients.blogspot.com/2011/03/few-garycon-iii-images.html) I just want to commend Harley and Joesph for including the use of spell cards in the game. From my own playtest having aides like those is going to be vital to the success...

Re: what game is most like the DCC RPG?
I tried to create a character in RM once. It was more fun to do my taxes. No you use it as a AD&D supplement i.e. as a combat sub-system and possibly spell. It was how Arms Law and Spell Law were originally presented. The DCC RPG character creation is simple and straightforward much like older ...

Re: So, what about combat?
If somebody loses his past PC, another player "donates" his extra. I tried that as the referee of my playtest and it generated the best quip of the night. Me: What don't you play one of the extras? Player: I pass. I am OK with just watching. It would be like wearing another person's under...

Re: what game is most like the DCC RPG?
To be honest the closest in feel would be 1st edition Rolemaster used as an AD&D supplement. You can get reprints on RPGNow or at the company website. For AD&D you can use OSRIC. You may be able to merge Rolemaster Arm and Spell Law with 3.X. While much of the mechanics plays similarly to d2...

Re: Products you want from 3PP for the DCC RPG
My memory is vague so I'll probably drop the ball on my fact-check roll, but I'm petty sure the original Judges Guild Wilderlands was done in d20 (Necromancer Gmes?) and "Majestic Wilderlands" (Rob Conley) was done with C&C. They are similar but not exactly the same. Sorry if I messed...

Re: Supporting multiple systems within the DCC's
Or...what if the DCC had generic stats ("Orc, 6 hp, axe, chainmail")...and ALL detailed stats were available as a download? So if you play 4E you download the 4E stats PDF...if you play Pathfinder you download the Pathfinder stats PDF...etc. This would be great! Kind of like the old Judge...

Re: Supporting multiple systems within the DCC's
It is a tough call. This is how I look at it; you have three major systems 4e/3e/retro. Modules require work to convert between the three different categories. For retro clones, adventures modules are fairly easy to convert between the different systems as long as you don't get too elaborate with yo...

Further comments on Points of Light II
It was great working with Joseph, Aeryn, Jim and the rest of the Goodman Games team. Again thanks for the opportunity. The theme of Points of Light I was about saving or expanding civilization. The theme of Points of Light II is exploration beyond the frontier of your campaign. I plundered history a...

Re: Points of Lights
EDIT: While I'm here, lemme ask - Do the 4e DCCs and Master Dungeons have a place in any of the PoL settings? I understand the idea that they're easily transferred to any setting, but I was wondering if there was any thought put into which setting would be a "best fit" for each adventure....

Re: Points of Lights
The first three are different regions at different times. Okay, I didn't know that . My main concern is that once I select one of the four as my campaign setting, I'm pretty much tossing 3/4 of the book. While it's great to hear they have a shared history, I don't see the different time/different p...

Re: Points of Lights
Are the four mutually exclusive? No. They can combined if so desired. Can they be different regions of the same world or does the collective backstories contradict each other? The first three are different regions at different times. The fourth is an outer plane that is related to the other three l...

Re: Points of Lights
So are there any chances of a Points of Light 2? What about a product that expands on the microsettings described in the original PoL? Any chance of seeing more of those classic RSC maps in any other products? 1) Yes PoL 2 is in the works. 2) If PoL sells as a series I certainly see side products e...

Player Maps for Points of Light
Goodman Games has posted a pdf that has player version of the maps found in Points of Light. The maps omit or distort the information on the GM Map.

Re: Points of Lights
Ok, I ordered it today. So, for those who are already privy to the 4E goods, If I wanted to drop Dragora's Dungeon into PoL, where would it best fit? Based on the description here http://www.goodman-games.com/5301preview.html I would say Wildland would be the best fit. I would say the Tharvengian F...

Any idea when these player maps will be available? I've already ordered my copy of PoL, and am waiting for it to arrive. Additionally, these maps are just fantastic . How are the setting maps going to be presented in the points of Light product (full page, half page)? Re: What 4E classes do you want from Forgotten Heroes?
How about a set of realistic versions of the core classes. Sort of like GURPS Martial Arts except for D&D 4th Edition. The magic using classes would be more subdued, less flash bang magic, more buff oriented. Instead of Fighter you would have a Warrior Priests instead of Clerics Woodsmen instead...
