Re: Dispatches from the Raven Crowking

I especially enjoyed the third, on sandboxes. In preparing a little campaign I have, for the first time ever, built a little data mapping diagram of what location might lead (via clues or otherwise) to what location. It has really made the entire world come alive for me, as the creator. Really good ...

Dispatches from the Raven Crowking

I have not seen anyone mention this here, but our own Raven Crowking has produced three booklets with his thoughts for campaign creation. I recommend them very highly. Although technically system neutral they are clearly applicable to DCC. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/152084/Dispatches-from-t...

Re: Crawl! no.9

I was hoping to bring this thread back from the astral plane so I could ask Raven (or anyone else who has played The Grinder) a couple of quick questions. How long do people find the full adventure takes? Can it be done in 4 hours? Spoiler ahead... At what point do the players start to realize that ...

Re: Purple Sorcerer Games: Nebin Pendlebrook's Perilous Pant

I picked this up yesterday and am thrilled with the product. It is a nifty adventure with a little mystery amd weirdness. Big enough to use up four hours with some options to trim if the party is slow. My first Purple Sorceror game and clearly not my last.

D'oh. I am a local and did not make it. Do you often run games there or was that a one-time thing?

Re: Crawl! no.9

I have! How can I be of service? Thanks Raven - I appreciate the offer of help. Spoilers ahead Questions: 1) Does the declaration of "not having eaten the Curwen's food" an option you see giving the players - or just a way for the GM to handle players who try to avoid a connection to the ...

Re: Crawl! no.9

I love Crawl #9.

Perhaps I need to read it again but I don't "get" the PvP option.

I am having difficulty groking how to introduce it and how it plays out.

Has anyone tried the adventure yet?

Re: iPad and Goodman PDFs

i'm really surprised that cutepdf didn't work. Goodreader is the best I've seen for reading pdfs. There is a new app by Readdle called PDF Converter. I'm not sure if this will work but thought it might help. Cutepdf has worked for other Goodman products. It produced one blank page for Amethyst. Hav...

Sorry to raise this topic from the dead. I finally ordered two Amethyst products. Foundations and Evolution. The Evolution pdf looks great on the iPad but the Foundations is still having the JPeg2000 issue. I've tried converting it with no success. I used CutePDF (I don't have Adobe or a MAC alas)....

Re: iPad and Goodman PDFs

We've been looking into conversion of our existing products to the official e-reader formats. The challenge is that most of them are built around displaying text, not tables and illustrations - not an ideal venue for RPG's. I don't think there is anything wrong with PDFs - it is just Apple seems fi...

Re: iPad and Goodman PDFs

Partial success. The CutePDF writer worked to resolve the JPEG issue. Now my Level Ups show all of the appropriate images! That is good news. The program did not solve the jumbled fonts, however. Until Apple releases a fix the problem will exist unless Goodman and other publishers re-issue the docs ...

Re: iPad and Goodman PDFs

For the pdfs with image issues you can do the following (from Goodiware.com): JPEG2000 image compression. This compression used in some PDF files can't be understood by current versions of iPhone OS (and GoodReader heavily relies on its capabilities). However, there's a very easy workaround for that...

Re: iPad and Goodman PDFs

Thanks Joseph.

I assumed it was a "one of those things" kind of thing. I imagine it is a font thing. I realize it is not a high priority but if you ever do figure it out please let us know. You'll get at least one more Level Up 3 order.
